Re: who is s/he?

JFK: I'll have to go through it again following what you say. I was only saying who they looked like to me. That they would change positions would be interesting but would not necessarily indicate a different character. In the sequences before and after that, Laura Dern's character is on both sides ...

Re: who is s/he?

I'd say the first pic is of one of the two girls, either Lori or Lani, I never learned their names, but the two who are joking around about the phantom gesture. The second one is Gruszka as Lost Girl in the snow. And the third one is Smity's Son in Smithy's House.

Re: hypnotized too?

I think that if she is an uncredited actress, the reason for it would be exactly to point to the question of what character she is. Otherwise we'd be making up our mind basing on who she looks like. I think she could be called "the woman who was killed" safely enough. We see her both in th...

Re: for the title only(OT sorta)(or maybe not)

A google image search of Muscoy, CA shows a place that looks like familiar territory. If you click the marker, a 360 degree street view comes up; that's what really looks like a neighborhood we've seen before. Maybe not really but close enough. Note the blue van in the driveway; maybe the pool man f...

Re: hypnotized too?

All of that describes the sense of those scenes as I experience them, but I am not sold (either) on any one description of what is happening. One thing though, the dead woman in black: the very fact that the identity of the actress remains in question after all this time makes me gravitate to Kiddo'...

Re: Geography of Smithy's house

Yes I think that this "Smithy's secret room" can be a big part of the house and also that back door can be "in there". One thing that puzzles in this is the fact that there seems to be a vacuum cleaner in there if I recall it right. From the outside we can also see a vent going ...

Re: Geography of Smithy's house

1. OK then if that hallway the portal door leads to remains constant and runs parallel to the back hall leading to the bedroom "” could that not be the hallway that leads to the back yard, running alongside the bedroom? The circus performers emerge from that doorway, but how did they get there?...

Re: Scene 35

Yes the relationships between these names are all strung out and we only see the illustration of what she says about the phantom with a clip of Maj. at the circus. I've never been comfortable with just lumping them all together; there's something too easy about that. If they are all just the same, w...

It's been long established on various boards that he's the pianist. There are over 9,000 hits to his name plus inland empire. Re: Scene 35

Wouldn't you say that the man with the lightbulb, whom most people identify as Crimp because of the monolog, is real when she encounters him next door? If not, why not? Absolutely not - if you watch the scene closely, you'll see that he diappears into thin air. Like a ghost or a phantom. I guess it...

Re: Geography of Smithy's house

It's interesting to think about the physical geography of meta-physical places. Remember, ' Smithy 's house' started as a 'set', so there will likely not be a one on one correspondence to a 'real' house. Some of the abrupt transitions, not all involving axxoNn, may relate to the fact that they take...

People have concluded all sorts of things about Crimp's relationship to the story, but there is very little information given about...

Re: Geography of Smithy's house

I could not find images of step ladders exactly like the one in Sue's kitchen (below) but there are a couple of similar ones on these pages (about 3/4 down in the first link). http://i4k-props-atl2.com/scenes http://www.weada.co.uk/oak-arts-crafts-stepladder-chair/ This looks to me like a kitchen st...

Re: Geography of Smithy's house

Yes, this is at least very satisfying to curiosity, very helpful and so thanks! In addition to Kiddo's suggestion, there is something I wonder about and that is that, looking from the back yard, to the right of the kitchen windows there seems to be a large space with a sort of crenelated horizontal ...
