For me, and with no hesitation, it's his greatest work. Astonishing breadth of imagination, and his delving into and use of religious symbolism is nothing short of breathtaking. A major achievement, and all those who moan that it means nothing can blow it out their arses!!

I haven't bought the R1 DVD yet but I intend to order it asap - I'm just not sure where from. I usually use Amazon Marketplace but they haven't listed it yet. Your post has made me drool! I'm glad somebody besides me grasps how mad it is to leave More Things That Happened off the UK release. If you...

Also Pomona is the goddess of fruit trees. Lynch might be making a sly reference to the tree of knowledge and the fall. 8)

I would love to order the DVD from DL.com but I'm buggered if I'm paying those shipping costs. $90 +. How on earth do they justify those extortionate charges?

Re: Pomona

I've a question. In the film Sunset Boulevard, when Norma Desmond describes the plot of her script to the young scriptwriter (whose name I forgot), he more or less mocks her and says, "They'll love it in Pomona. They'll love it every place." And then, I was thinking about this conversatio...

[quote="FaceInTheLeaves"] I already have the Absurda/davidlynch.com DVDs in deluxe and standard editions. Between imported books, DVDs and CDs and Ebay my David Lynch collection has clocked up a horrific number of air miles. Is there any difference in quality of picture between deluxe and ...

Lynch apparently cites it as an influence. Fascinating.

INLAND EMPIRE by a mile...the most audacious piece of film-making I have seen in a long long time. Utterly original, stunning to look at, and the best soundtrack ever. The ending is incredibly moving. Well it had me in tears anyway.
