Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Has anyone yet noted that the "murder weapon" Dwayne holds up after Dougie's death in Episode 19 is a (fictional) book called My Secret Life by (series AD) Chris Gerrity? I doubt it's intentional, but the title is oddly appropriate for Doug in retrospect.

Re: Episode 21

While we've discussed the Johnsons' interior decorating, I don't think anyone has actually talked about the scene in this episode yet in the thread. I think it's a pretty good little horror-movie scene, and one of the best things in an otherwise terrible episode. Edel improves the scene from the scr...

Re: Episode 20

Ok. If you freeze-frame the shot of Jean immediately after Coop shoots him, it does look like his hand is in his jacket -- presumably reaching for a gun -- as he tumbles backwards. But there is zero evidence of this in the edit before Coop shoots him. And even the shot afterward is so blink-and-you'...

Re: Episode 20

Renault was going for his gun the very moment he spotted Denise sporting a hidden gun strapped to her thigh Where are you seeing that? It's not in the cut of the episode on my Blu Ray. This is the last shot we see of Jean immediately before Coop pulls the trigger. He's holding the dinner tray, seem...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Thanks. I just hope we find out before how they will be transmitted. Makes it hard to plan out the episode discussion ;) I wouldn't be surprised if they did it like Mad Men. Some of the later seasons started with two episodes back-to-back but with no ending credits or opening titles between the two...

Re: Funniest moment in the series

The Waiter sequence in Episode 8. "Does this include a gratuity?"

Most Ben & Jerry scenes, particularly with DKL directing. "Ginny & Jenny down by the river." Jerry doing the Worm and Ben dancing on his desk to "Mairzy Doats."

Re: Episode 20

Overall this one is a breath of fresh air for me after 19 -- largely due to the Dead Dog stuff, but also because I tend to be more amused by Ben's moronic subplot than most of the other "comedic" shenanigans, and this episode is heavy on him. Beymer's energy and Holland's use of the set ma...

Re: What will be the Opening Theme music for the new show?

Point taken. "Dark Mood Woods" a powerful example of synth used for the right reasons. But the soaring unapologetic romance of "Falling" screams out for full orchestration IMO.

Re: What will be the Opening Theme music for the new show?

Most musicians use synthesizers as an instrument on it's own terms, not as an imitation or a sound-a-like solution to save money, and certainly not AB/Lynch. A full symphony orchestral version would, imo, only schmaltzify it and reduce it's dark and mystical vibe. While synth is certainly often use...

Re: Episode 19

So I guess we can assume that Col. Reilly is a co-conspirator to Cole/Dougie/Jeffries/Garland? Too bad he's not on "the list" in TSHoTP. (Also, why is his name consistently spelled "Riley" online when the script names him "Reilly"? Subtitles screwup?) Wish we'd seen thi...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31

It's not? LOL. My point is, no one has seen it, and the only reason people care so much is the original series. If it was a brand new show, there would be interest, but not on this level. Seriously, the level of detailed speculation is overwhelming. If Lynch were directing and cowriting every episo...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31

The reason why it's ridiculous that some people are already expressing that they wouldn't want more "Twin Peaks" after this season, is that many people had the same stance before season 3 was announced. They were scared that the legacy would be tarnished and that it would impact their lov...

Re: Critique of John Thorne's Essential Wrapped in Plastic

FWWM might be my favorite piece of the TP saga thus far -- the only thing that rivals it is Episode 29. That said, I think it's unfair to give Brad crap for not covering FWWM. His book has the deliberate mission statement of covering the checkered, bizarre, rise-and-fall zeitgeist of the series. It'...
