Re: The "We live inside a dream" theory
Bumping this thread just to say that, while my "primary" reading still allows for the full narrative reality of the Twin Peaks' story and all the supernatural mechanics that could put Cooper and Laura's ending into place -- I'm really coming around to the fact that Richard and Carrie as tw...

Re: Poll: Do You Understand Now Why S.F. was pissed about her role in The Return?
This is impossible to answer because I feel the version of the role we wound up with was likely partially a result of her late signing-on.

There's heart in TR: Albert and Gordon, Hawk and the Log Lady, DougieCoop and family "you've made my heart so full." Catharsis and comfort are totally the ends of MD and FWWM in a way that's almost quaint, ditto episode 16. Ah, cool. I might have misread the tone of your post above. Sound...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
Re: Western homages: It isn't just the Judy's Diner scene. If this season borrows from one genre other than mystery, it's the Western. Black hat, white hat, a town's morality on the line, a lone hero's journey. It's strange and fractured as anything, but that's definitely one of the recognized narra...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
I would be scared of living in a world where someone would prefer The Return to the original run. But this is not the case since I am sure nobody truly thinks so, they are just trying to be the coolest kids in town. Okay. Number of times the original series made me cry: 0 Number of times The Return...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
I think sometimes presence of heart makes the avante-garde crowd itchy under their berets, because anything resembling sentimental is Happy Days, clearly. DL has been telling the same story since Lost Highway, and others are just as proficient at the mind-bendy and the 'nothing much going on in a s...

Re: Calling all who think the original timeline is still intact
My personal jury is out on this. Certain things, like Cooper taking care to provide Janey-E and Sonny Jim with another tulpa, lead me to think the original timeline remains. Others, like Jeffries' "Gordon will remember the unofficial version" lead me to think it's been overwritten. (And, o...

Is it possible to say I think it vastly elevates the original run while also not feeling ready to make that call?
For what it's worth, I still feel Fire Walk With Me is the best thing under the Peaks name.

Re: Watching 17 and 18 in sync
We know the scenes are arranged non linearly. If the syncing is a wild duck chase, where does Sarah smashing Laura's picture frame fit in the timeline? After Cooper's actions in the sheriff's station, as he's saving Laura in the past. Judy's attacking the photo immediately proceeds the record-scrat...

Re: Where has Cooper been?
All across the lodge world, I'd assume. Twenty-five years is a long time, even if I somewhat suspect it felt like substantially less time to Cooper. Time probably passes there like it would in a dream -- a week in a minute or a minute in hours. I like what you've pointed out about Jacoby's shovels h...

Re: Part 18: something's bugging me...
Some people have suggested that he is a man named Richard who thinks he is Special Agent Dale Cooper because he is having a psychogenic fugue (Lost Highway) / he dreamt all of Twin Peaks (Mulholland Dr.) / he is a fan of the series (meta game). According to this theory, Carrie Page would be just Ca...

Re: Watching 17 and 18 in sync
Having watched a sync of the last fifteen minutes or so, I'm now even more convinced it's incidental than I was before I tried it (and I tend not to give these types of theories much credence in the first place). Unless we're to believe that Cooper and Laura are both the Sparkwood street light, or A...

Re: Kyle MacLachlan interviewed this morning on CBC (Canada)
I disagree with him on Mr. C being a separate/opposite entity of Coop. Coop disassociates Mr. C in his mind as a way to cope, but I do think the end as Richard showed an integrated form where Mr. C was definitely part of Cooper. That stood out to me as well. It's hard to look at this season without...
