Re: What actors/actresses would you like to see in a season 4..?

Lakeith Stanfield (Darius on Atlanta) and Benicio del Toro would both fit the DKL sensibility like a glove, I think. In general, I’d like to see DKL work with more actors of color. I mentioned in another thread that I’d love to see Carrie Coon. It would be great to see DKL work with Freddie Jones on...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

I will also note, without further comment, that DKL has often said that he wouldn’t have a career if not for the AFI, which owes its existence to federal funding for the arts. In other words, LBJ is indirectly responsible for Eraserhead. (In his autobiography, DKL is pretty derogatory about LBJ and ...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

DKL talking about politics has always been a little like discussing politics with a kid who heard a few things on the playground. He’s self-admittedly naïve and ill-informed and will occasionally just pick up something that appeals to him and run with it. The most disappointed I ever felt in him was...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

The Rancho Rosa setting is bleak, but when I think of the Dougie storyline over fourteen or so Parts, Rancho Rosa is just one small piece of it, even though that’s where it began. Dougie’s own neighborhood looked perfectly affluent to me. I didn’t interpret the potato chip as showing detachment betw...

Re: References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)

Early drafts of the Dune script contain a sequence (not in the novel) reminiscent of the Judy/vomiting scene in Part 8: 0CE218D9-A340-421C-A81D-D91D512F6489.jpeg (Read the full script at http://www.duneinfo.com/Content/files/dune_script_2nd_draft.pdf) The “House by the Sea” drawing DKL gave to BUF f...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

I wish I'd picked up on the light-heartedness in season 3 or that Dougie was just non-stop hilarity. He wasn't exactly the Marx Bros. Dougie was very melancholy. The whole season was damn bleak and that's what Lynch and Frost made it for a reason. Its just that they won't tell us why yet. It baffle...

Re: Lynch to release memior 'Room To Dream: A Life In Art'.

It’s a sidebar to a sidebar in DKL’s career, but I’ve always been curious about In Pursuit of Treasure, the failed AFI feature that DKL painted gold bricks on (and Fisk and Deschanel worked on as well). I found this interesting 2008 article about the director Stanton Kaye, who ultimately went into t...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

It’s interesting; I think in Catching the Big Fish (which was written right around the time of IE), he says he dislikes HD because everything is too clear and he praises the PD-150s for imitating the murkiness of a ‘30s film, with “room to dream” in the crushed blacks. I love IE, but I think most of...

Re: Original Season 3 Plans

The interpersonal dynamics are interesting. Bob Engels came on as Mark’s longtime friend, but then seems to have become DKL’s surrogate for Mark when the L/F partnership deteriorated. Now that Mark and David are back on good terms, I wonder if DKL still would have any interest in collaborating with ...

Re: Original Season 3 Plans

All the ideas for the 90s Season 3 sounded so terrible to me, the exception being Briggs saving good Cooper from the Black Lodge. That plot point sounded so awesome... Yeah, they really are terrible. Funny thing is, Alan Moore (comic creator of Watchmen among other things) said in an interview a wh...

Re: "Room to Dream" about 'Twin Peaks' (SPOILERS)

I agree that DKL has historically been affectionate toward the stuff that came between the Pilot and E29. I’ve always liked the Log Lady intros because they show that several years later DKL was still thinking about the series, even some of the more obscure/arguably dodgy elements of it like the dea...

Re: "Room to Dream" about 'Twin Peaks' (SPOILERS)

Lynch is always like that off the cuff about the show vs. the pilot or FWWM/Season 3. Like Fred in Lost Highway, he remembers things the way he wants to/his own way - not the way they actually happened. In truth, we know in detail how much care he put into a lot of the original series despite getti...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

I took that as meaning that the green glove originated as a separate/original idea/character for Nance, not that Pete Martell would have worn the glove. I’ve always thought it was a shame that Nance never had another lead role in DKL’s films post-Eraserhead (other than TP he only had bit parts).

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

The digital was alarming at first, but I grew to love its subtlety, especially as I started to see still images that told me that the Showtime stream was not doing it justice. There's a crispness that fits this series, as though you can't escape reality or the world as it is, which this series pres...
