Re: What did we know before?

I knew Janey-E's real name maybe a year beforehand. (I stayed silent when a fake name for her began circulating, and I still don't know why that happened unless someone felt like making it up to seem important.) I knew she was played by Naomi Watts, was a love interest for Cooper and had a little b...

Re: Twin Peaks Actually Explained (Youtube)

Joel Bocko's videos really are the cream of the crop. His latest few on Lynch's collaboration with Mary Sweeney are particularly good. Just to keep the positivity flowing, here are a number of other video essays which I think are worthwhile for various reasons: To Linger With You by Corn Pone Flick...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)

I don't see any point in bothering with the Secret Diary fanfic. Lynch never read it, and he doesn't even care about his own continuity! I would stick to TV + FWWM, to make it a bit less messy.

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?

I don't think digital was the problem, it was rehashing old material. The good part of Season 3 (I acknowledge no marketing terms from Showtime) was Part 8, the purple place, etc, and used a lot of CGI and digital photography, but it was NEW, and I think Lynch was more excited about it than the old ...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?

Bob was completely ruined by Season 3, but that's partially not their fault. I think they struggled to reconcile doppelganger Cooper with Bob possession, this was a problem created in the 90s. Also, the red room/black lodge stuff was not as effective as it used to be: the sets felt huge and empty, l...

Re: Different Twin Peaks podcasts

Hey guys, do you know of any podcasts or written reviews that revisit Twin Peaks from the beginning (season 1 and 2) with season 3 in mind, trying to draw connection between the earlier mythology and the later ones or how characters developed? Kind of like what Mr. Reindeer is doing in his write-up...

Re: 'Russian Doll' Makes Me Appreciate S3 More (Spoilers for RD)

so, there are a couple of strange repeats and inconsistencies? ditto for the original series. again, time travel is confirmed, but I don't see a clear loop, just repetition with variations, based on changes made. but thanks for answering my question!

Re: 'Russian Doll' Makes Me Appreciate S3 More (Spoilers for RD)

sorry for jumping in, I've been away awhile. What is the widely accepted time loop? Could someone briefly explain?

It is clear that some kind of time travel is involved, but I don't see a loop.

Re: Cry for help: First supernatural event by Laura?

Well, obviously I don’t meant that in 1989 Lynch had Carrie Page in his mind (who knows?!? ;) ). However some things might work retroactively. It is possible that he had the idea that Laura was special in a supernatural way (kinda like Donna says, her problems keep on living) and that was a fruit o...

Re: Different Twin Peaks podcasts

Shameless plug, but if anyone wants to check out a super-long heavily mythology centric detail-oriented crazy fest, check out Mr. Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/mr-podcast/id160672014?mt=2 Many episodes are over 5 hours long. If that's not your thing, I understand, but it may amuse you...

Re: David Lynch should not get away by declaring TP as a "dream"

Yeah, apart from the line "we live inside a dream", I see no indication that most of the story is a dream. It clearly seems like time travel/parallel worlds type stuff happening. We don't see anyone "wake up"(apart from Audrey, but there is no indication that she was dreaming the...
