Re: Northern Exposure

I remember it being promoted as 'like Twin Peaks' during Season 2 of Twin Peaks; I never watched it myself. My mother did and she loved it.

I probably would check it out if it were streaming, but I don't think I'm motivated enough to get the DVD.

Re: Northern Exposure

Thanks for replying. I have heard a revival was going ahead but it didn't get to green light, though they're still trying, but I feel it may not happen given its parent network didn't want it. Hadn't heard about the Blu-Rays. That's interesting. Might check them out but will probably stick to my DV...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

It's cool to think maybe the Sarah/painting stuff all happened in the background before The Return began. We just didn't see it. I love the end of Episode 27 too. In the episode discussions on that particular one, there's a lot of talk about how that sequence came to be and how much they knew about...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

It’s a difficult scene for me, because, assuming that it actually occurs and isn’t some fever dream of Sarah’s, it takes her all the way into literal physical supernatural monster-channelling territory, as opposed to her being one of the gifted and the damned, (as MIKE memorably put it), and able t...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Just now I sort of wondered, how did Sarah get away with literally killing a dude in a bar? How does a coin magically suspend in mid air? Why does an insurance company executive seem happy to pay out a multimillion dollar claim? Love it or hate it, the entirety if TPTR is probably taking place in C...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Well here are my criticisms of The Return: -Ep. 18, I love parts of it; still not a fan of a drive to Odessa and then back, nor of Cooper in the hotel room with Diane. This is the only episode that truly does not feel like Twin Peaks at all. The ending however, with Carrie's/Laura's scream, is elect...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?

Derolli summed it up pretty succinctly. My feelings about the Return are complex. I don’t hate it. Definitely don’t love it. It is almost like a very strained relationship with a person. That sounds ridiculous because it is a tv show after all, no more. Over time, it has felt like it’s increasingly...

Re: DUNE to Be Released 10/21/21

Aw guys, you made me less exited for the film. I have yet to watch it since cinema's are still closed here (working expat in Peru for a year). I did have high expectations of Villeneuve, especially after Blade Runner 2049. Guess I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out for me. Who knows, aft...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

One thing is clear though- Lynch is not likely to risk his life so that we get to see more of his work. Even though he is undoubtedly triple vaxxed by now, he's also keenly aware that 90% protection against death is not 100%. But it is good to finally hear that something was in the works. Has Agent...

Also Chuck Cunningham from the 1st season of Happy Days.

I liked his role in Season 2. I actually liked the whole Jean Renault arc.

Edit: I did not realize he was Dan's son.

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

I remember a while back during The Return there was discussion about some Twilight Zone episodes and similarities to The Return. - Was watching some episodes this morning for Halloween and highly recommend the episode A World of Difference — about a man who realizes the world he’s living in isn’t r...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Speaking of logging, I always laughed whenever there was an establishing shot featured roaring wood trade and trucks with felled trees after the mill was burned down. I mean there are probably other saw mills around the vicinity but it felt like an oversight. It’s actually left pretty ambiguous whe...

Why do people opt to buy these things then (if they do) - what's the appeal? Also, I don't really follow the whole "blockchain" thing. I understand NFTs are like a digital currency, right? But I'm out of the loop on the rest of it. I googled it quickly but don't feel much more enlightened...

This might be a tricky thread to keep from verging into straight politics talk. It seems it was a perfect storm of circumstance, including industry politics and, of course, COVID. IATSE (the union for propmasters, wardrobe, basically anyone not behind or in front of the camera) has been on the verg...
