Re: SPOILERS: Inconsistencies in the Secret History of Twin Peaks
So the grid pattern on the cover of the book, what was that supposed to be? I remember Frost making cryptic "you'll see" kind of remarks about that. Of all the weird, sometimes annoying inconsistencies between the show and the book, (and I know they weren't working together as such) that o...

Oh, I can't help but find the box art hideous. It's a nice companion piece to Laura's fractured face on 'The Complete Mystery', but I don't know. It's a messy composite, and it's colours are really off. Bright red and muck green and brown.

Re: Creepiest/scariest scene(s) [Spoilers]
-The long drive from Odessa to Twin Peaks. The sound design, that high sustained discordance. The following car. Carrie's inane dialogue, and then coming out with "I was too young to know any better". - Sarah. Talking to Hawk, her dead eyes. Something in the kitchen. "Men are coming&q...

Re: Season 3 Magazine Coverage and Articles Worldwide
It is interesting. But isn't the writer projecting himself onto Lynch's art too? He's not denying that fact, but his interpretation of The Return is pretty definitive in his eyes. I'm quite confident Lynch did not set out to cleverly examine the insidious nature of whites among other races. Jade is ...

This is a strange article. I guess you can see whatever you want in fiction.

Novalis wrote: If I were to use a particularly convoluted series of metaphors to typify how I feel, these would be: The original series is an exquisitely carved and detailed wooden owl, lovingly varnished in varying tones of the forest, that has pride of place on a shelf. The new series is a steel ...

Re: Poll: Criticism of The Return
My problems with The Return: - Uneven writing; the Albert, Tammy, Diane and Cole scenes had some special moments, but it could be strangely underwritten, unimaginative in Albert's case, or over- worked. - Sometimes jarring combination of exposition and visual storytelling; the Monica Bellucci dream ...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
I'd also like to say it's pretty astonishing how a story of inter-dimensional conflict and divine intent was wrapped up in stories of insurance fraud, small-town crime, family life and values post-economic crisis, and finding yourself again, (or not - I knew Out of Sand was written for the show!) an...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
Fire Walk with Me is better than The Return, The Return is better than the majority of the original, select episodes; the Pilot, 2, 3, 4 and the first episode of Season 2, are superior to The Return.

Mystery Roach wrote: I was just coming here to say that. The ZZ Top song in particular is peaked out of listenability, but it's all way overdone. I thought that. I don't remember 'Sharp Dressed Man' sounding so acidic. Another thing I thought; hearing the music in isolation from the visuals made me...

Re: Poll: Choose Your Top 5 Hours/Parts of TPTR
Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 are the most cohesive, atmospheric and moving hours besides Parts 6, 8 and 18. It has such a potent and confident beginning, it's untouchable. I loved the ending, but Part 17 was marred by the Freddie and Bob fight scene a bit. It was doing such a great job of ratcheting up the t...

Re: Season 3 Ended On A Positive Note (Spoilers)
I wasn't going to post, but the discussion is too interesting. I think what you see onscreen is less that what it infers. If you take the raw information we get, it's a neutral or positive ending; Cooper may be trapped in a strange other-world or year, and Carrie remembers something of Laura's life....
