Re: Tamara Preston - Chrysta Bell (Spoilers)

I guess one of the things new actors learn is that they've always been acting; that all their roles in life are essentially learned practices. You can only realise these things through feedback though, from an external point of view. This Vulture interview reads like Chrysta Bell is awakening to that.

True. I followed the link this time and it's not the article I thought it was.

As you were.

Re: Aging and a seemingly deteriorating society in Twin Peaks Season 3

Yeah, I don't buy the idea of DKL being captivated by the ideology of moral panic or a Spenglerian narrative of decline. Loss of innocence and a fall from a state of grace can be universal themes without depending on euphoric recollections of youth or a lost America. That piece tells us more about ...

Who is this dude? Episode 3, 55:00. Scene in Cole's office when he and Albert first hear of Coop in SD. http://www.dugpa.com/forum/download/file.php?id=4785 Please direct me to the page where this is discussed if it has been already. It's Franz Kafka. Don't think it's been discussed much, but: http...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

Ok- I watched it again and have some stray observations. 1- The weird black BOB orb rose up out of Doppelcoop but we didn't necessarily see it "leave" him. Did the woodsmen people (what are we calling them?) take it? Is it still inside him? It was definitely 100 percent the same thing tha...

Re: POLL: Old Peaks or new Peaks?

Nope. Not going there.

If FWWM was on its own rather than lumped in with season 1 and 2, I might have been persuaded to vote but as it is, nope.

The wood paneling on the wall looks similar to the wood paneling in the convenience store in FWWM: http://i.imgur.com/AGwA63U.jpg I experience the same creepy abandoned house aesthetic with respect to the rooms in the picture Mrs. Tremond-Chalfont gives to Laura in the RR Diner carpark ('this would...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

That's why I don't like the woodsmen. I honestly think it's cause they are extras either overcompensating or with little experience or something This whole season has had an intentional b-movie vibe, which we saw most clearly in Part 8, but Part 11 also was full of b-horror references. The woodsmen...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

But seriously, does Lynch make a point about masculinity and femininity? Or is this just the way that Kyle/Rebekah look? Especially with Rebekah: I understand that some women have larger breasts than others. But I felt they were unusally large. Maybe there is also a connection with the hyper-femini...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

I also don´t think we are going to have an ending that will tie absolutely everything up and provide a neat resolution. If you think about it Twin Peaks never had an ending like that before. The season 1 and 2 finales simply piled cliffhanger upon cliffhanger and everything was out in the open as f...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

As has been noted on other threads, the "dreamer" quote is an excerpt from a passage of the Upshanishads, which DKL used to introduce screenings of IE as well as the IE chapter of his Catching the Big Fish book. This is interesting to think about. The saying DKL used to introduce IE goes:...

Re: When do you think will "Dougie" snap back to being Cooper? (Spoilers)

Are we all done? Chet won't talk about the blue rose, Jeffries won't talk about Judy, and Hawk won't talk about the black space hopper. Settled. Back on topic: I'm increasingly of the opinion that Dougie won't be 'snapping' back to old Cooper at any conceivable point in his future. He's simply been ...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)

I stood up for the fact that the words "responsibility" or "responsible" don't make sense when you to try to apply them to art. No one has been able to articulate how calling David Lynch responsible or irresponsible makes any logical sense. 'Don't make sense' according to who? W...
