Re: What were the most impactful scenes of TP:TR?
For me the 5 seconds that Audrey wakes up are the most powerful of the entire series.

Re: What were the most impactful scenes of TP:TR?
Second favorite would be the entire "this is the chair" sequence. It was so 1990 and made me feel good inside, especially with Bobby's bittersweet smile. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk This might have been the worst scene of the entire run for me. I really didn't like the bonding of...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
Two questions:
1. Am I right that we never found out who was with Cooper on the NY-photo?
2. Was the scene with Leo new footage or was it shown in the original show or FWWM?

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Lynch has proven he can expertly handle the craft of filmmaking. Films such as The Straight Story and The Elephant Man prove he can create a narrative, draw tremendous performances from actors and can – daring to say it – touch the viewer's soul with warmth and humanity in his images. You liked The...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
It was miles and miles above the original, which today is just a quirky melodrama. Not all narrative is interested in character/heart as the main focus (teenage writers are capable of stories with heart). The Return is a parable about the inability to return home, and many other ideas, like perform...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Like many others in this thread, I have been pretty underwhelmed by this new season. I recently made a brief video talking about David Lynch's self-indulgence in THE RETURN, particularly when it comes to the character of Gordon Cole. Here's a link to the video if you have any interest: https://www....

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
The original show had a lot of potential: some nice, innovative ideas, lovable characters, a promising main plot, etc. But overall it was far from a brilliant show with some minor flaws (Evelyn, Little Nicky). To the contrary: the vast majority of both season 1 and 2 was mediocre or even weak. It wa...

The best would be if Lynch could make another TV-show for Showtime.

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
What if the place going dark is not about "electricity", but about dark conquering light? Cooper asking "what year is it?" shows him being confused and outmanouvred by Judy. Laura's scream shows that trauma's cannot be erased. The past dictates the future. The rest of the interpr...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
I'm not on board.
It makes sense on a rational level. But it doesn't on an emotional level. It defenitely does not feel like a happy ending, so that is reason enough to dismiss it.
Still, there is a lot of good insights in it.

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
I don''t know if this theory is already put forward in this thread. But my take on the Freddie-plot (one of the view plots that I really didn't like, I thought the Return was pretty much perfect besides Freddie): WHY does Lynch introduce such a lame superhero-character that can kill off BOB with a p...

If this were true, why didn't he just write a popular, fan-service script?powerleftist wrote:I think it all comes down to this: David Lynch needed money.
He could have written a more popular, more commercially viable script in 10% of his time-investment.

. I also think the mythology has been taken as far as it can/should be taken. It worked perfectly to see a greater evil even than BOB unfurled. But what's next? A greater evil than a greater evil? Very good point. Even Lynch, one of the greatest artists of all time in my opinion, could go overboard...
