Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Is this the thread for criticising other viewers for having different experiences?

Cool. For a moment there I thought it might be the place for criticising the show. What a faux-pas I nearly made!

So: you want to hear about my criticisms?
I don't have any.

Re: S3: Make Your Peace Now with the Ending You Dread (SPOILERS)

I have to admit, the only ending that would satisfy me is one that leaves everyone's jaw on their chest, thinking 'what the hell?' and 'where's the ending?'. A show like this shouldn't 'end' in any conventional sense, it should get truncated, like a snail bitten in two by a demonic goblin. Everyone ...

Re: Diane

Any thoughts on "Max Von's"? The obvious thought for me was Max Von Sydow, the great (and now old) actor everyone remembers from Bergman's Seventh Seal. Probably way too obvious a thought, but there it is. Also interesting to note the similarity of the form of the neon sign to the Bang-Ban...

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

Hello everybody, First time poster here. I'm thoroughly enjoying the show, and have no complaints whatsoever. The aspects many people criticize, especially the lack of substantial action from the old characters, as of now, I see as an essential part of it all. The show has always been about loss. L...

I used Sam Stanley's machine on the screencap and it indeed says 'Annie'.

Re: ROLLING POLL! Your ongoing reaction to the first half of The Return, parts 1-9 (SPOILERS)

Generally I'm in favour so far, and very glad the return exists. I suppose it must be difficult to recreate the original sense of uncanniness that the old series (at its best) and FWWM was steeped in. Especially after so many years of us fans poring over and getting used to what were, at the time of...

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

Generally favourable feelings towards this episode. If I have a complaint it would be that it's beginning to feel like Gerard's ability to contact Cooper-husk is too easy and could easily get to feel over-used if it continues. Furthermore, it somewhat diminishes the lodge/red room disquieting aura o...

Re: How many times have you rewatched? (SPOILERS)

Nightly rewatch. It's the only way to get to the detail, and the devil's definitely in the detail. How else can the fanbase synthesise and extrapolate upon this rich, rich world unless we pour over all those details? That's more or less where my experience of Twin Peaks (and Lynch in general) has al...

Re: Garmonbozia = for men only?

Interesting posts. Corn is a big subject in Frazer's Golden Bough (although not being, obviously, the bough itself which is mistletoe). Lots of uses in fertility rites, human sacrifice, proxy / scapegoat rites and so on. The various strains of western mystery trad. cited above were led by folks who ...

Re: POLL: Kyle MacLachlan is an Excellent Actor - TRUE or FALSE?

I voted for excellent actor. I suppose what I mean by that is versatile. Able to move in several quite distinct directions within a limited time -- must require quite some suppleness.
