Re: Theresa Banks, timelines, and more

I guess Laura was the more personal mission for Dale. Teresa was Desmond's investigation, Dale spent about a day doing a cursory follow-up, more interested in Chet's disappearance than the actual murder, whereas he spent over a month falling in love with the townspeople of TP. Saving Laura is as mu...

Re: Theresa Banks, timelines, and more

On the face of it, I guess you could wonder why he didn't go back and save Theresa, thus saving Chester also. I guess the difference is that they were gone - not part of the story. Cooper keeps seeing Laura in dreams after she died, etc and within the Lodge. She's the central part of the whole thing...

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)

It's strange, because I loved The Return - even more than Season 1 and 2 - but I would have voted No even a week or two ago... because it felt like a perfect way to end it - but this is me speaking as someone who thought "How's Annie?" was the perfect ending to the show, too. But now I am ...

Re: An apologia for Sarah

Personally my theory is that Sarah, after the death of Laura and Maddie, and finding out that her husband was the perpetrator of these acts (even if he was under the influence of Bob), left her with absolutely nothing. She became reclusive and found solace in alcohol and cigarettes and not much else...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I cannot wait for the Blu Ray release. Indeed! Since 5/21, I've been watching on the Showtime Anytime app, throwing the feed up on my TV screen (I don't have cable). I've found the app to be glitchy in a way that HBO Go, Netflix, and similar apps are not, frequently freezing and needing to be refre...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I took some time off work and watched Season 1, 2, FIre Walk WIth Me, The Missing Pieces, then The Return! And I loved it. Even Little Nicky! Obviously this wasn't all in one go but it was curtains closed, television on, speakers on full, watch until I had to go pick up the kids, filling up on coffe...

Re: What Did Laura Whisper?

You know what I don't get? Why people need to be so down on other people's ideas. That is, to me, the beauty of Lynch stuff. Openness to debate. I mean, we could talk about his films and shows forever and all have different (if sometimes similar) ideas. Who cares if someone has put something on Yout...

Re: Calling all who think the original timeline is still intact

Wonderful & Strange wrote:There are real consequences to Cooper saving Laura. That's why the original timeline is toast.

OT: Cooper goes to Twin Peaks because Laura is murdered.
Actually Cooper goes to Twin Peaks because Ronette crossed a state line.

I am changing my mind about this constantly.

If a new season diminished the quality of anything (which I doubt) then I would go with no.

But... Yes!

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

I sat through all 48 episodes, Fire Walk With Me, and The Missing Pieces last week and loved the whole thing... but Fire Walk WIth Me, The Missing Pieces, and the Return held my attention more that Season 1 and 2... I felt like I was working through them just to get to the stuff I wanted to rewatch....

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

I prefer "The Return" Not that it makes me love Season 1 and 2 any less... far from it. But the risk / reward factor present here, combined with the fact I never thought it would happen and the unflinching vision of Frost / Lynch made me appreciate it all the more. Some days I feel like I ...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

If I had to guess, I'd say it's the difference between regular people like Ray, who only end up in the Red Room if they're wearing the ring when they're killed, and those associated with the lodge, like Dougie or 'Diane'. I went with associated because Leland (presumably) was a regular person, howe...
