Re: Music From The New Series

For the original run, Badalamenti (and his musicians) had a few recording sessions to create a "library" of music for the music editor and the director of the episodes to choose from. One thing they did to create more music was for some tracks (Audrey's Dance, Dance of the Dream Man, etc....

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

I'm curious how the new season's music will be handled. The original run heavily replayed certain tracks (or at least, as someone who hasn't read in-depth about the soundtrack, it sounded like repetition) and I wonder if part of that was a time constraint, particularly when you're getting into a 22-...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I think I'm going to hold off on reading them, just so I can read it all in one batch as opposed to having to wait another twenty days to read the rest. Wonder if/when we'll get a sample of the audio book though; usually audible has like a three minute sampler.

Re: Showtime to Re-broadcast Original Series Early Next Year

I for one, will probably watch the re-airing, even though I've seen the show many times. Yes, partially I'll be on the lookout for trailers, teasers, etc. But the other part is that it will feel like I am watching together with millions of other viewers at the same time (a feeling I don't get when ...

Whoa! Nadine! Jacoby! The Log Lady!
Oy. Cheerleader Nadine. Not one of the finer moments to choose for a promo.
Bring on the Evelyn Marsh and Little Nicky promo!

Re: What is the audience?

Someone mentioned FWWM in this thread, and while I love the movie, that business decision boggles my mind to this day. A show cancelled due to sagging ratings gets picked up for a movie deal? Yikes. I imagine someone got fired for that. It was part of a deal with a French production company, so pro...

Re: What is the audience?

They're trying to do a little more TP and end it their way. Oh, no, not the "Swan Song Theory" again ... Other than that, congrats to everyone on this thread for making really interesting contributions/contemplations as to how a "new" TP audience may look. I particularly like th...

Re: Showtime to Re-broadcast Original Series Early Next Year

And most importantly, the hope for some sort of new content! Promos during the re-run for the new series, Maybe hosting the eps by cast members, etc, etc. I have a feeling that is the primary reason why there hasn't been an official plan for the re-broadcast announced. They're still working out the...

Just as I suspected in the Non-spoiler thread a while ago; "Regarding the rumoured 'feature film' though; I'm not getting excited as it sounds like it might just be a feature length ad for Transcendental Meditation with a little bit of John Malkovich to entice viewers (as well as a recording of...

Re: The Supernatural, Silva and the Season 2 Problem

As far as Frank Silva goes, I enjoyed his performance. Not particularly scary, but effective in it's presentation of base, animal urges. I'm quivering at the mere thought of what could be your idea of a "scary", man ... I'm not the same person, but, I find the Mystery Man in Lost Highway ...

Re: What is the audience?

Everyone above makes good points, but another thing to keep in mind as far as the practical, business side of this question: the business model of a premium cable channel is very different from that of a broadcast network. The audience for the former is much smaller, and notably more affluent and e...

Re: Showtime to Re-broadcast Original Series Early Next Year

At this point I'm thinking they'll do a marathon over a weekend leading to a Sunday launch. It would be more for publicity than actually catching people up. Who knows, though. That probably makes the most sense. Or maybe a 'week of Peaks', leading up to the Premiere. That'd allow you to do like 4 e...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

I just finished the absolutely incredible ESPN documentary series O.J.: Made in America. My filmgoing habits have dropped to a trickle, but I'm pretty sure even if I was going to the theater a few times a week, this would be the best "film" I've seen all year. I was going to say it doesn'...

Re: What is the audience?

Honestly have no idea, and I suppose we won't until they finally show something off. I'm inclined to think, despite as you say that it's a tall order, that it's designed to do both. Most of these long-delayed sequel stories tend to pick up threads of the original tales while using a new set of chara...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Either way, I think it's best to temper expectations. I suspect we will fall short of learning Dale's definitive fate following the finale, but we will learn more about the Lodge and have expanded knowledge of Blue Rose cases, and learn much more about our favorite characters that will have us view...
