Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I don't think that is a fair assesment. We are shown Judy. We are shown Judy in Sarah. No we're not. We are shown things. We are told names. We see characters doing random things. Connections are never established. This is why I'm on this thread. You're now saying that I don't need to be profoundly...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
In Season 3 Cooper has a plan to save Laura by effectively erasing her death, he fails to do so because of Judy's meddling. There is no timeline in which Laura isn't killed. There is absolutely no way we know this for certain. The episode is very clear on this. Coop lays out his plan ("I'm tak...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Have any of the disappointed crew gone back to watch series 1 and 2 and FWWM since viewing TP3? I was wondering if it changed how you felt about them now when watching. I think I'll be alright. The way I see it is that in S3, Cooper traveled back in time to stop Laura from being killed. But that di...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work
Off-hand, I can't think of ANY movie or TV series that provoked such extreme reactions as this one. That is true, but I think it might have something to do with the popularity and status of the original series, and the contrast with expectations from TPTR. I still adore the original, but it has tak...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Mulholland Dr., I actually understand Mulholland Drive quite well these days. It does cheat in a way that we shouldn't let Lynch get away with, but do for some reason. But it isn't a pointless mess like TPTR. I've yet to watch Inland Empire. I bought the DVD years ago but haven't found it in me to ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I had another night filled with Twin Peaks -dreams. It's getting quite harrowing, when it mostly reminded me of the disappointing season 3. There was even a monologue by Ben Horne trying to explain that giving answers was never the purpose of the series. Maybe. But surely the purpose wasn't to fail ...

Bloody hell. Am I really going to have to rewatch the whole thing? You've certainly laid out a case for it.yaxomoxay wrote: That’s not true.
I'm going to need a bit of time to let go of the cynicism I currently hold for the season, but maybe one day.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Not sure what you mean here. There was a final confrontation in the Sheriff's station, which had been building up for the previous 16 episodes. Well.. no. Even without the previous 16 episodes, we knew that Cooper's doppelganger was evil. So whatever the reason for him arriving at the Sheriff's sta...

Re: Cooper's conversation with The Fireman in episode 1 (linear and non-linear approaches)
Kinda makes me wonder if The Fireman is a character from another story Lynch had developed over the years and decided to use now, and to make it look like a tie in to TP he cast Carel Struycken.

Re: Cooper's conversation with The Fireman in episode 1 (linear and non-linear approaches)
Yeah I am inclined to think The Giant and The Fireman are different characters, possibly both of the same species of giant lodge spirits? But given how little we saw of The Giant in the original series, I don't think it's so far fetched to think that The Fireman is just a more fleshed out version o...

Re: Cooper's conversation with The Fireman in episode 1 (linear and non-linear approaches)
On a related note: Is Fireman the same character as the Giant in the original series? It's the same actor, but are there any other reasons to assume they are the same? In the original series, the Giant clearly says he is only allowed to give Cooper hints, and a limited amount of them. But the Firema...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Been reading the previous pages about how TP has now faded from a lot of peoples minds. Well, I'm not one of them. I can't get it out of my head. I want to, since the disappointment rings its ugly head every time, but I just can't. I keep revisiting scenes and characters, the thoughts just pop into ...

I'd be genuinely surprised if it ever turns out that Lynch and Frost actually decided what she whispers.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
The joy of not getting answers is that we can theorize for years to come. Yes, we can theorize about things like maybe Audrey is actually hiking in the arctic and just had a nightmare, which is why her background is white when she looks in the mirror. Or we can speculate that Mr. C is actually look...
