Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I do not think this is in any way comparable to George Lucas and Star Wars. It's a tie-in with some fuzzy points of continuity. It's not Greedo shot first or the ballad of midichlorians. I get tired of overheated geek culture dealing entirely in absolutes, with something being either perfect or the...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

For those who want to avoid possible continuity gaffes, but still want to get all the great lore and intertwining with real history, my suggestion would be to just skip pages 155-233 of the US edition. Despite the possible gaffes, I'd still suggest reading the whole thing. But for those who know it...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I listened to the podcast and transcribed some of the sections important to this thread. There may be a word missing here and there/typos or slightly mixed up words. I did leave out a lot of uhhs, umms, and repeated words. About the fans The fans are the ones that kept this whole thing alive for a q...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

Having finished reading the dossier, I think there's still room for a legitimate reason for the continuity errors. The reason might seem lame, but it's possible the documents in question were altered or replaced with forgeries to throw someone off track. -Mordeen To what end though? That really doe...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

And Briggs gets information on the fbi events where? It's not specifically stated, but I would assume from the network that Dougie built up(even Tricky Dick was an informant of his at one time, at least such seems to be the case and is posited by Agent Preston). It would also appear the Nixon hooke...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

It may have all appeared in the thread already but can somebody who's read the book do a rundown of what it tells us about post-series events? Cooper visits Briggs after the tooth brushing incident, leaving Briggs extremely worried about the Cooper... Cooper... Cooper... message Pete, Dell, and And...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

The fun has been sucked out of it because Frost (appears to have) sucked the continuity/importance/etc out of it. If I go back and watch the series now, I get to be like, "Oh, here's that plot that apparently doesn't matter now and makes no sense in the context of Frost's book." I'm not s...

Re: Twin Peaks Poll - Demographic

I'm 26, so definitely not old enough to have watched the original airing. But I was 17 when I first experienced the show. Been in my top 5 ever since, and I don't think it will ever drop out.

Re: Twin Peaks Poll - First Time

I watched for the first time through the Gold Box. It took me about a week to watch the whole show. I would get home from high school and burn through as many episodes as I could per night. Man did my homework suffer. Interestingly, the first episode I ever watched was Episode 2 and I didn't watch t...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

you don't think the crocks over saddles shoes is worse?! *finally catching up on this now. Oh, I think it's infinitely worse, haha. But it's something so small. I just used crocks since they really illustrate something that could be very different, but not change much. I thought about just saying s...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

some of the minor plot points of S2... I think people need to keep this in their minds before losing their shit over this book. Nothing here is a game changer for the overall show mythology. There's nothing significant in any of these revisions, no matter the reasoning. Holy cow I've never seen the...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

I think that's how I read it too (saw some preview images). What doesn't make sense though is when it says the mill and its properties "passed to Catherine" after Andrew died. Did he even have any legal part of the mill or Ghostwood before his death? I wasn't sure but didn't want to gripe...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

Besides the positives I've mentioned in other posts, one thing I was glad to see was confirmation that Chet and Sam investigated Teresa's murder. It was nice to see confirmation that that is an event that occurred and not a dream by Coop. Mark Frost will be on Brad's podcast tomorrow to talk about t...
