Not to put the topic to rest but in actuality yes, this is quite probably the case.Jasper wrote:It could simply be that this combination of words is emotionally powerful, and we're thinking too literally.

Re: Firewalking
See this is why I actually tend to lean towards the “firewalk” (rather than “fire, walk”) interpretation, because that notion of firewalking ties directly into Cooper’s character arc (and in a way Laura’s) as a test of courage and/or self-discipline. Either way I just noticed something else. A simil...

Episode 22
I don’t have much particular interest in Episode 22 really (although I know it’s a somewhat divisive one among fans) I have just one question. I was wondering if anyone knows what language Thomas Eckhardt and his assistant are speaking (and what they’re saying) in the Great Northern lobby after Eckh...

Further to this side topic: The young foreign woman with the older bumpkin at Hap's also calls to mind Josie and Pete... This guy Daniel Cowan points out in his blog (see here http://www.dugpa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2530 ) there is even a fish on the wall right above bizarro Josie and Pet...

Re: Firewalking
I found this old thread and I was just wondering what people think or know about about the phrase “fire walk with me”, what it might actually refer to (if anything), and who came up with it… I’d always assumed this does refer to the act of firewalking over hot coals, but then some viewers (and the c...

Re: Who eats garmonbozia?
I’m always surprised this is never mentioned in any discussions… for me it is practically a given: surely the significance of “corn” is that it’s uniquely indigestible, as in one’s stool (this is a bit of a sordid notion… actually maybe part of why it’s never mentioned). It’s certainly seems fitting...

Re: Andy “plank” scene and Philip Jeffries scene
14:55 (the stick is very plank-like, and the action is absurdly long-lasting) Great find in the Dumbland episode. Compare this once again to the stabbing motif in Inland Empire - not merely the stick/plank/screwdriver objects themselves but the persistent, lingering and somewhat obsessive manner in...

Re: Favorite episodes (and directors) of Twin Peaks
The shot of the mountain goat after Andrew swings the rolling pin is spectacularly unsettling. Yes... at the risk of reading too much into this brief flourish, the mountain sheep/goat works well for me as either a sort of white-haired "spirit animal" of Andrew's, an omen of death, or both.

Re: Favorite episodes (and directors) of Twin Peaks
Fun topic. Here are my five favorite non-Lynch episodes in order (favorite on top) with a little write-up on each. Episode 27 (Stephen Gyllenhaal): This is far and away my favorite non-Lynch episode and one which did a lot to cement my love for Twin Peaks. After the previous few hours – which are re...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
I’ve really enjoyed this video series Joel. The chapter on Mark Frost’s theosophical themes and the dugpa mythology was especially interesting, as that’s such an unusual topic. I also liked the way you read Sheryl Lee’s “letter to Laura” over the scene from Inland Empire and the way this tied into t...

Re: Andy “plank” scene and Philip Jeffries scene
The only thing that comes to mind as being a reference to non-Lynch Twin Peaks is the baby laxative in the cocaine (cut out of the film, but in the Missing Pieces). Then again, I've always wondered if Dead Dog Farm in general wasn't one of Lynch's pop-in-for-5-seconds-and-suggest-something ideas. C...

Re: Andy “plank” scene and Philip Jeffries scene
Interesting general topic this has turned into. I had noticed the Deer Meadow versions of the sheriff’s station, Ben and the Great Northern, Norma at the Double-R, and the Log Lady, though never once picked up on the connection of Pete and Josie to the bizarre characters at Hap’s. Brilliant !! I was...

Re: Andy “plank” scene and Philip Jeffries scene
Yes I would probably be going a bit far if I insisted that this was done consciously. Agree with you entirely – the line between intentional/non-intentional is very blurry with David Lynch. Mind you I’m sure if we sat down and asked him he’d affirm that all interpretations are valid insofar as they ...

Andy “plank” scene and Philip Jeffries scene
Hi, been reading this board for a long time but never posted. So, I’ve picked up on a lot of interesting connections in Twin Peaks over the years, most of which have already been brought up and articulated by other viewers, but there are a handful - such as the following - which I’ve never seen disc...
