Wonderment of a mystery is cool, wonderment of basic plot elements is poor writing.

That word isn't really applicable here. Everything is too vague and open ended. The positive ending just as well founded in what we've seen as a negative one.

For the record, I don't think that this is a good thing.

Re: Recut of TPTR

Steven, Becky, Norma, Ed, Nadine, Jacoby, Red, Richard Horne, Carl Rodd, most of Dougie, Audrey, the Roadhouse, Chet, James, the Mitchum brothers the myriad named and unnamed side characters do absolutely nothing to the end resolution of the story. I think it's possible to cut this into a movie leng...

Re: Reconciling the ending of FWWM with the ending of The Return

I'm not ruling out the chance that the reason Laura got the ending of FWWM is because Cooper saved her in the past and with her help, defeated Judy. As a result, Laura is free and is met by the angels.

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work

While I'm currently in the dislike portion simply due to lack of Cooper, Twin Peaks and a story, there is something I feel I have to mention: Nothing messes with my head like Twin Peaks. And in that sense, The Return did its job. Episodes 1, 8, 11 and 18 left me with a full night of delirious Twin P...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The point of a mystery is that one has the feeling it is solvable somehow. This, exactly this. Anyone can write a mystery if it doesn't have to have a solution. Anyone can build a puzzle if it doesn't have to be solvable. It doesn't matter where Cooper and Laura ended up, it doesn't matter who Rich...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Hey all, I'm sad to say that I ultimately am falling into the profoundly disappointed camp. I was among those who was holding out for the final hours to put it all into perspective - not to wrap things up tidily, but to give more weight to what had come before it. There were a lot of great moments ...

Re: Recut of TPTR

I was planning on working on a recut, and waited to see where the story was going. Unfortunately, what you can cut is episodes 1-16 (maybe parts of 8 can be used). There's no story to cut here.

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

I am enjoying the run. The convenience store was a great trip, very much Twin Peaks. That said, I do agree that some characters have gotten too little screen time to matter. Norma and Ed are floating off what we saw in S1 and S2, and it's workable, but Becky and Steven just don't matter. They're sma...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

It's not about wanting or not wanting these two characters to be bad. I don't know enough about these characters to care. This is the key to the way I see it. We've seen only a couple of minutes of them. They're background hum, they're just some folks in the town. The way they treat each other refl...

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)

As someone I know put it: The original show was about revealing the crazy underbelly of a seemingly normal town. In the new show the world is crazy to the point where a shred of normalcy would stand out. True. But the world is a very different place and the stories we tell are different. We already...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Because I live in Finland I have to wait for monday when the new episodes are out. I'm also at work during the morning so it is going to be difficult to keep up my focus on other things than the TP premiere!! Morjens , nice to see fellow Finnish fans around here! My story with Twin Peaks began also...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Lol. Go figure... Have you ever gone back to watch the old “Twin Peaks”? Lynch: Sure. http://www.indiewire.com/2017/05/twin-peaks-david-lynch-interview-showtime-1201818889/ Haha! But Lynch's answer may depend on how Lynch defines "old Twin Peaks." - Could be The Pilot. - Could be The Pilo...
