Re: Part 13 - What story is that, Charlie? (SPOILERS)

Could someone help me understand what Audrey meant with her seemingly random "ghostwood" comment mid-sentence? It's such a bizarre non-sequitur. I'm finding it hard to hear some of the dialogue; not sure whether that is intentional?

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)

That hour felt very exposition-heavy. Particularly the Bill Hastings scene: after all the build-up in Parts 1 & 2 hinting at some sort of possible LH-style identity/reality confusion, we get an anticlimactic, chatty backstory revealing that Hastings and Ruth were armchair occultists. Eh. Wonder...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

There's things i like about the return and things I don't. The things which intrigue me the most; Gordon Cole's blue rose Agents as a kind of 'men who stare at goats', occult loving spies who practice chiromancy on young agents. I'm fascinated where all that's going to lead. Becky and Stephen and s...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

That is a great article. Very prophetic In an above post you stated that "no one could have expected this," ie that the show would turn out to be like later Lynch rather than Twin Peaks. But Matt Zoller Seitz expected it in that very article. I did too. A lot of us did. When the pictures ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Couldn't agree more with the above, re the genesis of Bob. He was terrifying because he was unknowable. There are so many on this thread quick to deride the 'disappointed' because they think we want a cosy, apple pie mystery. Ok, well if you want to believe that and it makes you feel superior go ah...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think this is the right thread to post this in. I should preface by saying I'm actually really enjoying The Return and don't count myself among those disappointed. However, I gotta talk about Part 8. I liked it -- it's obviously very visually arresting and wonderfully cold -- but I'm not sold on ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

So, is discussion allowed in here or is it just for disappointed people to tell each other how they feel? It would be nice to have a discussion platform. I saw sadly some rather demeaning posts about those who dislike it and they have been removed, but I'd like to think positive discussion could con...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

Just too hard to tell when it comes to intended likenesses between young/old actors in my opinion.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

No I didn't. I had hopes after ep 7 as it showed a bit of promise, but I felt they were dashed on the rocks with ep 8. To me, personally, it's felt heartbreaking watching what has been screened so far. What is heartbreaking to you about it, out of interest? Is it just the missed potential of what I...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm still profoundly disappointed so am in the right thread for that. Good to know. I'm also in the mixed-to-disappointed category, but didn't you enjoy Part 8 at least? No I didn't. I had hopes after ep 7 as it showed a bit of promise, but I felt they were dashed on the rocks with ep 8. To me, per...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

You bring up valid points. I'll be the first to admit I am taking this personally, probably too much, but you have to understand, this - well, that - show has been with me for so long now, and certain aspects of Season 2 especially are so profound and near God-like to me, so much so that I'm incapa...

Re: Halftime Poll: Favorite Part So Far

Part 8, which is as far as I'm concerned the finest television ever seen, and something frankly I doubted was even feasible. It's also a beautiful, thorough, stylistically unprecedented exploration of the mythology of Twin Peaks - this is where I felt the most extreme unification of Lynch as a direc...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Maybe the poster who made that post jumped to conclusion re Frost's presence on the set as there really weren't that many photos of him there (I remember 1, maybe 2) and everyone has been silent as a tomb re Frost's role in the actual shoot - hence, his speculation seems more than valid to me. Earl...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

AnotherBlueRoseCase wrote:that the creators have just turned into misanthropic old men and genuinely dislike their audience. Sadly none of these can be discounted.
The other, truer option is that they don't care about the audience!

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

Regarding the mythology stuff, I think the problem here is all the cg effects. If you think about the mythology in fwwm eg: - laura in the painting - the convenience store & it's inhabitants - Judy behind the mask - the jumping man - the red room It's all clearly real; people / animals, costume...
