Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I don't know about Frost's upcoming book. TSHOTP was a grand disappointment to me. It went on and on about Lewis and Clark, Crowley, and Owl-like men, and most of the book was actually about Douglas Milford's adventures investigating UFOs! Twin Peaks got the short end of the stick. I think Frost is...

Re: Poll: Criticism of The Return

I don't know about Gabriel but mine were shitty. And The Return didn't help at all. It showed the world as a hideous place and people as dispensable puppets who didn't matter and could be dropped at any place. Therefore I voted "lack of character d." although I could as well go with dropp...

Re: From an artistic standpoint, why was The Return needed at all?

Understood, and thanks for taking the time to clarify. Maybe my skim-reading was a bit out of line here. You've certainly given me a lot to think about. Sorry if I sounded overly sharp. I had to get up early, slightly hungover, to pack for my holiday and tapped that reply out rather briskly. I'm qu...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

There's a hilariously long review of TPTR in the Daily Telegraph which reads as a desperate luvvie attempt to justify not just liking the series, but calling it a 'masterpiece.' It's got barely any comments on it and you'll have to search for it, because clearly no one's bothered to read it. And tha...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I beg to differ. At comicon Sutherland clearly stated that after L&F finished the 9 hour script, Lynch went to Showtime, got the deal, then decided to continue writing WITHOUT Frost's involvement at all, as Frost was busy writing TSHOTP. She stated that Lynch added about another 20% to 30% on h...

Re: From an artistic standpoint, why was The Return needed at all?

Is this like the umpteenth thread we're going to have where people who like the show are called sycophants, idiots, bootlickers and denialists, and then for some inexplicable reason some impossibly polite folks are going to respond with stuff like "thoughtful post! You've given me a lot to thi...

Re: From an artistic standpoint, why was The Return needed at all?

Somewhat off topic, but I always found Lynch's dismay about the killer-reveal pretty petty. Leland's confession was one of the strongest episodes of the show, and apart from that: Never revealing the killer wouldn't work at all. I mean the core focus was Cooper's investigation all along! Maybe they...

Re: Poll: Criticism of The Return

Dropped plotlines were the worst, but the others all figure to some extent in my criticism. Then again, I believe destinations are the priority, not journeys. Essentially, TPTR was four months of wasted time!

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)

Yes. There's something beautiful about the ending this time around, whereas the ending of Season 2 just hurt. It can serve as a closing of this story, and it can also be a bridge. It really depends on what Mark Frost & David Lynch feel is the right thing to do. If they decide to do more, it wou...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I disagree. I was in the main threads here in the early days of the run and some things said to me were awful enough to drive me to tears and to temporarily leave the board - it was bullying. Such horrible responses if I dared to criticise or express my disappointment. I was so grateful when mlsstw...

Re: Annie and Dale

It's frequently indicated that people have forgotten things in TPTR, for example David Bowie's appearance in FWWM is suddenly recalled by Gordon and Albert, but appears to be a memory they'd lost. Maybe all significant memory of Annie has been expunged. After all, Norma didn't seem concerned about h...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think some people think Lynch went off script a lot when filming. Also scripts are always written to be too long for the final cut. Looks like Lynch not only added or changed things while filming but really did not do the normal fat trimming. this should have been a 13 ep run. when we watch peopl...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Exactly. People are trying to solve a mystery which is not there. Who wanted to be with BOB again? Do you think Lynch cares? He couldn't care less! He just throws around things hoping something sticks. Many of you may know that the first appareance of the Red Room was just an idea that got into Lyn...

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)

One way I look at The Return is that it could be the Twin Peaks equivalent of Star Trek: the Motion Picture. After TMP, the Star Trek creator was politely bumped out of the way and new people took over. So one wonders.... are we in line for the Twin Peaks equivalent of the Wrath of Khan next time, m...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Is there any way to salvage the original show after this? I don't want to think about Diane being raped or having awkward sex with Coop every time he brings out his tape recorder. I don't want to remember that all of seasons one and two get erased from existence because Coop inexplicably goes back ...
