Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks
the message is not from outter space... its from the woods Yeah, I'm aware of that. That's why I said "supposedly". If you remember the scene from the original series, Briggs presented it as a line of communication he decoded from "deep space monitors, aimed at galaxies beyond our ow...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks
Make that MLMT and The Secret History of Twin Peaks stuff. Secret History is at odds with countless things on the show though. Don't I know it. Still, regarding the cryptic message (supposedly from outer space) Major Briggs delivered to Cooper (in episode 9, if I'm not mistaken?), I find it uncanni...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks
Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree, then. I think the passage in MLMT about the long-haired man trying to get Coop to "let him in" is a little too close a description of Bob and his methods for comfort and something you can't just do away with "it's only a coincidence". O...

Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks
I don't really see how Lynch reading the book affects the project either way. The book was written with full knowledge of the new season, not the other way round, so...? Anyway... You know how Frost keeps saying that the subjective nature of memories is the main drive behind the inconsistencies, ri...

Re: Twin Peaks fan = horror fan?
I edited a French extremity trailer for the London Frightfest a few years ago and it's one of my favourite trailers (can't put it on YouTube because it's too extreme.) Maybe you could upload it somewhere and then PM me the link if it's not asking too much? Would sure love to see it. So you're an as...

Re: Twin Peaks fan = horror fan?
Sleep paralysis? Is that the condition about which the documentary Nightmare (2015) was made? Brrrr, I shudder at the mere mention of it!

Re: Twin Peaks fan = horror fan?
Interesting, how many of the people here are more into psychological side of the genre! I myself am way more into "realistic", if you'd like to call it that, subgenres. Slashers aren't exactly my thing but I'll take backwoods brutality flicks (a la Wrong Turn) and survival horror (a la Ope...

I'm pretty sure that in Martha Nochimson's book, Lynch was quoted as saying that Windom Earle is "all Mark Frost" or something like that.
Maybe he meant it as a compliment? They are co-creating partners for the third season, after all, and both of the guys made much of the fact

Re: Windom Earle storyline- what was wrong, what was right
I don't see the need to retcon Season 2 because I feel like there will be very little of Season 2 specifically addressed in Season 3, other than the good Dale in the Lodge/Bad Dale outside dilemma (and even that has its roots in Season 1's dream sequence). Then again, I have no adequate explanation...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
A sentence struck me in my reread of MLMT today. For me, the biggest question of the new season is how Bob's possession of Dale will manifest (I expect it to be very different from the Leland possession, and very much related to Dale's specific dark side). While I don't expect the tie-in books to h...

Re: Windom Earle storyline- what was wrong, what was right
I do hope the new season finds a way to dissect Cooper's character, discovering his flaws and doubts without restoring to ham-fisted backstories with cheesy villains. And I have a feeling Frost and Lynch have found a way to do just that. I myself would HATE it if L & F would/will retcon Earle o...

Re: Windom Earle storyline- what was wrong, what was right
And I agree, it robs FWWM of it and Laura's agency. It's the kind of geek myth-building we see so much of today in other shows and projects. What in the world's wrong with a little geek myth-building now and then? I find it quite charming. Besides, it shows people really care about their favorite s...
