Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Hi, I just registered to talk about the many plot arcs, cliffhangers and characters that got no resolution or ultimately just meant nothing or just were plain underwhelming. Please add your own ideas. (Disclaimer: I was commenting this show on Reddit until now, but I had to abandon that community. ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

At that time when this thread veered off into a gender discussion, a month or two ago, I was wondering (to myself) if we were about to see Diane undress, as almost all the other actresses seem to have gotten the same treatment (I bet Audrey would have ended the same way in part 27). I thought it wa...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

"There's a sort of evil out there. Something very, very strange in these old woods. Call it what you want. A darkness, a presence. It takes many forms but... its been out there for as long as anyone can remember and we've always been here to fight it." Well Harry, that evil won and there'...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The amount of pretentious BS many "critics" and fans have been spouting since the TR finale is truly astounding. I understand that any piece of art is open to interpretation, but any piece of art that encourages this amount of interpretation must have failed on some level. Because, in the ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

From the latest Guardian article about the TR finale: "The point is, we were never supposed to understand. Life doesn’t tie up." Give me a break. If there was ever a show NOT about realism, life, or verisimilitude, it's TR. And you definitely don't watch Lynch or TP for a philosophy lesson...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I wish I could say for sure what Kyle knew or didn't know. And for the record, I am also disappointed Annie wasn't really addressed in the show. I have very mixed feelings at this point. I think the last two hours were brilliant, but they did not give me the emotional homecoming and closure a...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Guys, serious question. As you know I have hated TPTR. I stopped caring about it a long time ago. The ONLY thing I want now is not to have my beloved original TP/FWWM forever tarnished. Shall I just skip the last two episodes (haven't watched yet). From what I've read here and even on the main thre...

Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

We have to give credit to Ike the Spike, he's the only bad guy that has lived long enough to watch the finale. I am not counting on Red, he probably choked on one of his magic coins. [emoji38] Yeah, right :) Really, what the hell happened with Red? His introductory scene set him up to be some kind ...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm pretty sure Ontkean was just too ill to do it. It's not widely known as to his condition but it makes sense. His last movie was filmed in Hawaii where he lives, as it's hard for him to travel. Read something about him needing to be in warmer climates but dunno if that's true. But it'd make sens...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

On a positive note, Julee Cruise just posted on her FB page that she'll indeed appear in tonight's episode. I hope Lynch does right by her, after all we've had to endure in the Road House scenes.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

A bevy of articles keep saying that TR makes for a great companion piece to FWWM. Maybe. But, for me, it sure as hell doesn't work as a sequel or companion piece to the original series. Watching them together highlights everything that's wrong with TR.

Re: RE: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I missed that one, you're right. :-) Here though most of the core cast was available, with the exception of Frank Silva. Even Michael Ontkean was seemingly into it at one point early on. Strange. Although I've read over and over again that Ontkean didn't join TR because he's retired from acti...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

How many shows would be or have been given an opportunity such as this? None. They had this glorious opportunity to really delve into these aspects of time and its passage, and they royally blew it. I am obviously not talking about a movie where they age everybody 25 years, but where the actual 25 ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Well, here we are. Less than 24 hours away from the finale and I think most of the posters on this thread are approaching it with a mixture of sadness and relief. Relief because we are free of this bizarre purgatory in which we are compelled to stay with the show until the bitter end, and sadness b...
