Re: Buenos Aires Bellhop: Are you the man? or Ayúdame?
The subtitles are pretty lazy. "M.T. Wentz, c'est moi!" is written as "M.T. Wentz [speaking French]." I always figured that some phrases (like the Spanish one) are ubiquitous in the Western world, but alas. Also, watch the end credits to Episode 27 on the Bluray with the subtitle...

Theatrical viewing spoils home viewing?
I just saw this for the first time: IFC Center, front-row-center, 35mm. Everything about this film (especially the audio and immersive murkiness... immurkiness?) was simply arresting. I'm afraid that a home viewing will dampen the mystique. Even with all the lights off, I'm not sure even my reasonab...

Re: Buenos Aires Bellhop: Are you the man? or Ayúdame?
Maybe it comes from growing up in a pretty bi-lingual section of Long Island, but I am shocked that this wasn't subtitled correctly. Are there any other dubious subtitling issues?

Re: Buenos Aires Bellhop: Are you the man? or Ayúdame?
Not so far as I found. Thanks for the contributions all. The subtitles on the Blu-ray say "Are you the man?" which is what many podcasts I've heard (and some blogs) have references, with none suggesting that he is speaking in Spanish. I haven't been an active Spanish-user since High School...

Buenos Aires Bellhop: Are you the man? or Ayúdame?
Since the first time I saw this Missing Piece, I assumed it was a mistake in the subtitling. He clearly shouted "Ayúdame!" ("help me!" in Spanish). But many podcasts refer to it according to the subtitles as "Are you the man?" which is certainly more interesting but it ...

Re: Episode 28
What I didn't like: - Lana's stupid dance. Really, we had to watch this instead of some of the other girls? There was nothing about it that was sexy. Just finished my re-watch, too. I was trying to decide my least favorite moment of the series. The wake and the weasel scene were contenders but they...

Re: Different Twin Peaks podcasts
I can put my recommendation out for Podcast from Another Place as the most fun Podcast to hangout with; 4 distinct and funny personalities that you grow to know over the course of their recap. I don't mind the tangents. It's always a bummer when one of them is missing, which is a testament to their ...

Re: The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (Audiobook)
I was just about to read the book for the first time, but, after listening to those clips, I feel like I might be better off sitting in a dark room and letting the audiobook do the work.

Watching the show in 'real time'
If you ever wanted to watch the show on the same dates/days as when it actually takes place, now's your chance! A few days late, of course, but February 24 was a Friday in 1989 and 2017, so it should sync up. It's been a fun way for me to re-watch the series (it clicked in episode 2 which includes r...

I look forward to these every day. It's the first thing I do when I hit downtime each day at work, and then I writhe all weekend waiting for the next entry! Thanks for these. When it's complete, it will be an indispensable resource.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
I guess I just always attributed the hotel, department store and what appears to be a "revitalized" Main Street to the fact that there's a lot of money in the town - the Packards and especially the Hornes probably bankrolled a lot of those aspects. Ben Horne being the financier/developer ...

Re: The Entire Mystery Blu-ray: how common is packaging damage?
Amazon sent a replacement in a similar cardboard box. This time, the box itself was not noticeably damaged, but the glue was about half un-adhered. I'm sure it's just the nature of the glue they used that it usually fails. It's actually sort of clumsily designed, how each turn of a disc page applies...

The Entire Mystery Blu-ray: how common is packaging damage?
I just received my 2014 Blu-ray set from Amazon. The corners of the box are a little dinged up, never a good sign (and a little frustrating with a cardboard box, but I'll live), but the most notable flaw is that the glue (which could quite possibly be quite old) that holds the disc-holding portion h...
