Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)
From a Roger Ebert essay on 2001: A Space Odyssey: https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-2001-a-space-odyssey-1968 "The film did not provide the clear narrative and easy entertainment cues the audience expected. The closing sequences, with the astronaut inexplicably finding himself in ...

Re: DUNE to Be Released 10/21/21
So I am excited as hell. But not going to movie theaters yet. I'm looking into HBO Max. Anybody else really looking forward to this?! If you go see it I don't think there's a problem posting spoilers. So please post reviews here! I read somewhere it needs to be seen on the big screen to get the ful...

And so, so, so much of it! I loved Lynch making it eighteen parts, airing week to week and starting it off with The Giant saying, “listen to the sounds” and then it all adding up in such a meticulous way! And by loved, I mean taking a nail and a hammer to my hand and playing a fun game of tension. ...

I haven't been following any news or looking for updates but I think Mark Frost made a Twin Peaks reference recently regarding Part 8 (what a nuclear explosion looks like). Just glanced at it while stalking literary agents on twitter (I don't bother with social media otherwise) so didn't pay much a...

Any thoughts on this? I would have thought after Brandon Lee, this would never happen again…

That's what I love about Mr. C getting some coordinates, driving from South Dakota to Washington to be raptured up into a vortex and....dumped in front of the Sheriff's station.
So irrational, so creative, so dreamy

Taking the elements of the Dugpas and the Tulpas- I would consider those more mythological than supernatural. Whereas ghosts and spirits from a Western sense would be supernatural.

I agree- it is not really supernatural. I would have used 'metaphysical', although I guess mythological works too.
And in Lynch's hands, I think the term might be 'psychological'.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)
Just to remind everyone- supernatural/fantastical storylines existed side by side with more conventional soap opera storylines in S1 and S2. This is not the exact same as the grim realism of Steven/Becky being in the same show as Freddy, but also not that far off. That was part of the charm of the s...

Since you don't know them you don't really emphatize with them. Compare and contrast with the original, where you really got to know the characters and subsequently felt for them. We don't know Sarah Palmer or Leland Palmer at all when they're introduced, but I had no trouble empathizing with them ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)
I really think it boils down to what you think is or isn't proper in terms of narrative, what it has to do in order to reflect or inform life, what your perspective is or isn't on what is meant by 'realism' and what obligations one has to convention and narrative tradition. Although, again, to paus...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)
Watching some of the episodes again, I feel the same way I did in the beginning. Many of the story arcs simply don't engage. Richard's hunt for money, the Mitchum brothers' plotting vengeance against Dougie, the drug addict acting out on Shelley's daughter, Jerry's struggle with his own foot. Some ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)
I enjoyed the sandbox / community art project of the original. So many great scripts/dialogue and episodes directed by people outside of Lynch and Frost - to me, it’s kind of a bummer Lynch wants to pretty much claim/re-forge/retcon it as his own sole dominion now. **IMHO** What your statement high...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)
I wouldn't say Sarah is most steeped in drugs - her issue is mixing prescription medication with alcohol. As portrayed in The Return, she would be considered an alcoholic. As we all know, Leland drugged her in the past so that would have been its beginning, seemingly. Well as Agent Sam Stanley woul...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)
I know Jerry Horne was meant to be mostly light humor in the story, but something just occurred to me: 1. Jerry was found without his clothes; Naido/Diane was found without clothes 2. Jerry somehow got from Twin Peaks to Wyoming 3. Jerry somehow in Wyoming right near the coordinates trap that killed...
