Re: SPOILERS: The Secret History of Twin Peaks

Sorry LonelySoul, I don't. I'm in New York, my book is in Melbourne. I will be with it next week though if no one finds that page number first. It's around page 350, right near the end. Apropos of nothing, OpeningCreditsBird, you now have my favorite screen name on the forum. I'm a huge fan of that...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Scripts were shredded after scenes were shot. Also, there were sightings of people shrouded in cloaks in between filming at outdoor locations. These were confirmed to be actors. But I thought Needleman said the people in cloaks were ripping up the scripts in front of actors on the streets of LA. Or...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

How many shows do you know where you don't even know the names, let alone the role, of the characters being played by famous actors? True enough, which is why I think it's possible, if not likely, that they'll forgo reviews until the 22nd. The increasing popularity of time-shifted viewing via strea...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

this is the man who had people traipsing about in Emperor Palpatine cloaks on the streets of LA and ripping up the scripts in front of the actors to avoid leaks. Wait. What? As far as the reviews thing goes… I'd be shocked if some critics didn't get screenings a little ahead of time, with embargoes...

I'm almost certain that's true, and… oh my god, tid, what the F**K is that avatar?!?! Gaaahhh!

Re: Official Thread - Twin Peaks - Jan 13 - Kyle Returns Promo

There were some questionable stylistic choices in INLAND EMPIRE The film's aesthetic was a very deliberate choice, and one that achieved exactly what it was supposed to, in my opinion. That being said, Twin Peaks is not going to *look* like IE, I wouldn't worry about that. Yeah, I believe Lynch sai...

Re: Showtime to Re-broadcast Original Series Early Next Year

I was an original viewer in my early 20s and I cannot relate to anyone who bails early, because I remember that myself and all my friends working at the same muffin shop were obsessed with TP from beginning to end. It seems to me the people that bailed were casual viewers who just wanted to have th...

Re: Showtime to Re-broadcast Original Series Early Next Year

I think you are underestimating the impact of, as you say, "the back half of S2". There's some seriously potent stuff there, easily rivaling anything that came in the well-loved S1. Overall, I think S2 is just as strong as S1, if not more so. And I wish Lynch, Frost and everyone associate...

Sort of understandable. The back half or so of S2 isn't going to do Showtime any favors in terms of bringing in fresh viewers.

Re: Official Thread - Twin Peaks - Jan 13 - Kyle Returns Promo

...do you think Nevins' choice of words, for instance, would be any different, had he actually disliked it? He's making money from it. I'm not insinuating anything here, just that statements from the suits at Showtime are one of the last places I'd look to determine the quality of the series. Maybe...

Re: Official Thread - Twin Peaks - Jan 13 - Kyle Returns Promo

(I do kind of wish Richard Hoover was back, but I don't know the story there) The new PD Ruth DeJong is no one to sneeze at, though! I looked her up - she's worked with Terrence Malick and Paul Thomas Anderson, and is a protege and close friend of Jack Fisk, Lynch's old art school pal and sometime-...

Re: Showtime to Re-broadcast Original Series Early Next Year

Did anyone watch the marathon? Or maybe more interestingly, know any TP novices who watched it? I imagine almost everyone here, like I, has the whole series in some form and can watch it anytime - but it still kind of boggled my mind when I would stop while going about my day and think that it was h...

I would say almost certainly not. I've read more than once that they stopped doing it in the second season because Lynch didn't care for it - it was too on-the-nose and bluntly parodic for his taste.

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Late to the commenting party, but I've been following the whole thing obsessively on my phone since late this afternoon. Thanks to the Dugpa family for making this a great place to hang out and get the play-by-play in a fun and (mostly) friendly atmosphere. Personally, the most I really hoped for wa...
