Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Interestingly, I could use almost the same writing if I ever wrote a cohesive review explaining why I think The Return was a failure. https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/david-lynchs-late-style/#! What makes Season 3 difficult to dismiss or just completely bash is that Lynch clearly aimed to create...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

If you care at all about the ‘storyline' You put 'storyline' in quotes as if it was some kind of weird or silly concept. Yet, almost all masterpieces both in literature and film that have stood the passing of time are based on a traditional, silly 'storyline'. Masterpieces which, needless to say, a...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

So according to the spoiler thread of the coming Mark Frost book, Laura Palmer is now missing instead of dead and Sarah hosts a demon since she was a teenager, which means that two demon hosts got married and fathered a being of white lodge light. Does anyone else find all this convoluted mess prof...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The way the fight with BoB ended,it doesn't look like BoB is destroyed,he is just defeated Or not. No way of knowing. Every conversation about s3 is going to go down like this. Utterly inconclusive, go-nowhere wanky speculation. I just glanced at the Final Dossier spoiler thread. It sounds good... ...

Is this what the kids call "shipping?" We only have what's on the screen. They appear to be close associates. Anything else is projecting.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

7 minutes of floor sweeping does not sound like fun. To kill the time, get up, boogie, stuff a donut in your mouth. Do an espresso shot. Or a shot of whatever is handy until Jean-Michel Renault is done talking about procuring high schoolers. Which brings me to... Visual porn. Porn : the Greek porne...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

http://www.mulholland-drive.net/studies/pilot.htm A few weeks later, I visited Lynch at home, in his woodshop. I asked him how he felt about ABC's rejection. He pushed his index fingers against his lower lip and remained in a brown study for a full two minutes. He rose and hit the intercom to reques...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Re: Mark Frost's quote about David Lynch's storytelling abilities. I responded to the same quote about a year ago, stating that the three films that Lynch has written without a co-writer are considered his three masterpieces: Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive. The writing credits for Mul...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

... We don't disagree on most of those points, I even indicated Frost's absurdist humor. And I never said it wasn't a collaboration, but the thing you said- that Lynch had the reigns. My point was TR didn't demand the same structure season 1 demanded and that from what we know Mark takes dictation....

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As for his woeful attitude to women in TR - Lynch isn't actually old enough to claim the "old school" excuse. He's a Boomer: he was still at an impressionable age during Womens' Lib (20s) and publication of Feminine Mystique (17). He wouldn't actually have seen many Tammy and French turni...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Imagine if the only Twin Peaks had been the European Pilot- it would have ended with a mysterious confrontation with BOB in the boiler room and an even more mysterious scene 25 years later in a Red Room with Cooper, Laura (or her lookalike) and LMFAP. Lynch fans would have been debating the ending ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Pulled this Mark Frost early 00's interview from another thread.http://www.lukeford.net/profiles/profiles/mark_frost.htm " I haven't seen it [MD]. I heard it was a mess. I knew that the pilot was a mess. David's strength and weakness is that he is often able to transcend story because he's such...
