Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

While an audio version of the book read by Frost sounded terrific when we first heard about it, now that we've seen the materials, it seems like a really poor investment. The listener is going to miss out on a TON of visual material. Furthermore, many things we've seen are the sort of material that...

Annie could also have been adapted and discovered her birth parents, subsequently reclaiming her first surname...? As for the "local flavor" stuff in the dossier- I could see how a lot of the documents could easily be incorporated as "unprocessed" evidence. The double R menu seem...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Does anyone else think that the upcoming dates mentioned on the documents could be dates where we may get some further teasers for the show? Wasn't the trailer released prematurely in response to the leaked pages? Perhaps the trailer was slated for August 3rd, the date on the box. Also they could r...

Same

What more it wouldn't irk me all too much if minor details were deliberatly changed if it serves the new narrative. I'm very psyched :o

Re: Beyond Season 3?

If Lynch or Frost have even the slightest hankering to continue the series I suppose NOW would be the time to act on it. There are a lot of logistical reasons why I thought it was impossible for a season 3, from the dismantled original sets to the goose chasing of old cast members (not to mention th...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

(For purely selfish reasons though I ambivalently hope for some references to King Arthur as I'm taking a course on modern re-iterations of The Grail Quest and it would give me an excuse to write about TP academically.) You could broadly interpret Laura as the Grail of the TP universe, garmonbozia ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

(still: no Excalibur for Harry. Please. I agree, I'd add that there is also something a bit disrespectful in my opinion of having all the ancient mythos of the Twin Peaks woods boil down to some Celtic legends that Hawk's ancestors and elders were unaware of, and those folk had to wait patiently fo...

Re: [Book spoilers] Cooper's situation: yay or nay?

I wonder about seemingly possessed Sarah's message to Briggs in the S2 finale: "I'm in the lodge with Dale Cooper. I'm waiting for you." It's not too different from Laura's diary message from Annie and is borderline redundant. We know the original context of that scene hinged on a potentia...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

It strikes me that as a potential never-ending television series Lynch got to inject hundreds of long-unused ideas into TP. Maybe he's the type of artist who just needs a massive canvas to start building a world (who knows if MD would have ever gotten created if it didn't begin as a potential length...

Re: [Book spoilers] Cooper's situation: yay or nay?

As long as he hasn't been literally on the outskirts of Twin Peaks dressing up as pantomime horse, ect I'm very fine with a disappearance backstory and the millions of possibilities that come along with it.

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Here goes: I'd be disappointed if the new shows relies too much on too many of the old characters. I agree. I also actually would prefer that the majority of the show take place outside of Twin Peaks and have the town have some mythic and nostalgic tone to it every-time it is revisited. "Absen...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

I think that, wtoo often, people mistakingly think that Lynch tries to pass us some underlying logic which could tie together all the arbitrary mumbo jumbo he spews out in some of his dialogs. e.g. There's probably no specific reason for ''this is a formica table, green is it's color'' I agree. I t...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Hank never really felt like a "belongs in Twin Peaks" character to me. Even though we first hear of him in the pilot and meet him pretty early on, I always sort of mentally slot him in with second-season interlopers (either literal out-of-towners or townspeople who feel like they wandered...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

If we are talking about non-Peaksian type stuff I'd recommend the dark show Mr.Robot which is super ambitious with a whole fall of capitalism narrative told through the eyes of a guy who joins a radical hacker movement which targets the data of massive banks. Also Black Mirror, a British show, has h...
