Re: Fell a victim
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/felling Lumbering.... Fell a tree. For mike, a table. It was the man in the green coat. I have no idea what that scene is, could be an incantation by which Lelands soul is transferred in to the monkey. Or the preparation of the monkey for Lelands soul for late...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
It is, also, just a coincidence, not a homage. Baby Judith (they don't call her Judy) was in the original comics by Robert Kirkman. I didn't say it was homage. What I think is that when a writer such as Kirkman names such a character Judy it is not random he does it for a reason. What I think is th...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
You know if i really wanted to be disrespectful I would have said that it's the kind of analysis that dilutes and ruins the experience for others.
But maybe we just disagree on what's disrespectful.

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
hi needleman. that's Judy. ok, seriously, if i was a writer showrunner for a show like Walking Dead and I was hugely inspired by Lynch, i don't mind saying i'd put all hopes for future in to one child and her name would be Judy. it might be homage. it might be universe building. peeps can argue. it'...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
no just figure everyone knows.
if you don't know, that is Judy from THE WALKING DEAD. remember it's a sea of stories. all artists fish in the same sea. did you take that in to account when you started studying? i did.
here's another Judy...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
Did you study Twitter for 6 years too? If we are resuscitating this dialog, then I would ask how you managed to study Twin Peaks for 6 years without any of the beauty and mystery getting lost in all that study? This is a well intended joke. I'm hoping you'll see the humor. Btw, if we are resuscitat...

Re: INTERSTELLAR -- Lynch as Nolan's Primary Influence
It works both ways... Blockbuster fans generally don't like their mall movie weighed down by big ideas. Nolan is now divisive. The big idea art movie fans don't like the mall/popular movie. Maybe it just seems unfair .. Nolan sure is having his cake and eating it too. INTERSTELLAR got somewhat mixed...

Thanks James. I really do appreciate it.

I would pay 500 bucks to see "Blackout" performed live.

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
Same issue with that... Really... It's just an easy way to dismiss other ideas cause the other guy "talked about it wrong." I think people can be rude and pedantic and you can have an opinion about that in terms of tone.... but to regulate the flow of ideas with that kind of philosophy fee...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
You know I'm not going to say your perspective is better or worse, I know it is less academic but every time I hear this argument about how "the phenomenon is lost" I get all knotted up inside cause I think it's just a passive aggressive way of redirecting attention to one set of ideas.......

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
And the problem is particularly acute whenever analyzing Lynch's work, especially but not only in video form (let's not forget how much he hates DVD commentaries, in which voices just drone on without any real respect for the images). In general this means not reducing what is visceral sensation in...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation
Curious ....
What is it YOU find cringe worthy ..
Production value?
Too expositiony/preachy?
Not expositiony enough?
Embarrassing theory?
Or I guess the less confrontational way to put it is what do you think your biggest challenges are when making something like that?
