Re: Twin Peaks The Return: The Mixed/Moderately Disappointed Thread

But it's those parts - the sweeping, Carl, etc. - that feel like TP, it's the attempted assassination on a bright Las Vegas plaza - that seems bizarrely lifted from a different show entirely.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I've said this already somewhere on the board but I don't think TLL's last appearance added anything more than her first. It was blunter for sure, but we'd already had a 'Good night, Margaret' or a 'Good bye, Margaret' in earlier episodes and these will inevitably seem smaller on further viewings. I...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What's the 'official' response been like John 'WIP' Thorne seems positive. What about Brad Dukes (who didn't like FWWM)?

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Make a show about a Las Vegas lunk who undergoes a trauma that leaves him mentally incapacitated yet somehow mixed up in an insurance fraud scheme and I'd watch it. Make it a cross between The Sopranos and On The Air. It would be a lot of fun! But don't call it Twin Peaks or have the lead character ...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

Chad's arrest was very perfunctory. There had been one (?) mention of the town's drug problem and no on-screen discussion of the hit-and-run as far as I can remember. Again, all we needed was one scene of Frank and Hawk discussing mundane police procedures and we'd have some context for Chad's arrest.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm prepared for Audrey to be stuck inside a coma or something but I still don't understand how the 18 year old victim of the explosion at the bank would know what she would look like 25 years later.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think in a few cases, all we needed were a few extra scenes. Steven's job interview, Becky's drug drive - these hint at an interesting dynamic but there's not much meat on these bones. And yet go back to Shelly, Bobby, Leo you very quickly have an understanding of what's going on there. One shot o...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

BadCoop - "Who ARE you? Who TF ARE you?" I wish we had a better sense of what he's been doing for 25 years. Has he been mooning around selling drugs and boning skanks? Or has he been doing magic Lodge stuff, 'doing the devil's work' style. He seems to have magic powers and capacity to some...

Re: RE: Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

I never understood why that theory was so strong. I know people thought it was strange that Hawk didn't mention it (onscreen anyway) to anyone, but I didn't find it that strange. I've been very critical of some of the narrative choices made in the new series, and you could chalk this down to being ...

A white horse walks into a bar.

The barman asks, 'Why the long face?'

The horse replies, 'I've been watching the new Twin Peaks.'

Maybe he's The Tin Man to Andy's Cowardly Lion?

Now we just need to work out who the Wizard is?

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

To go from the Becky shoots the door sequence (and RR scene) to Becky calling Shelly to Steven in the woods is not great storytelling. There has to be some literal missing pieces there, some kind of exposition.

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

Not clear what Richard's intent was. If it was to expose him as FBI, surely better to do that with some back up at the Farm. If it was something to do with understanding his parentage, why the gun? Revenge? Then refer to scenario 1.

Full marks to whoever posted about Frost's cameo and the character being in the woods 'looking for the story.'

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What people think about TP in 25 years is pretty moot. The original will be 50 years old. The number of people who will care about a TV show of that vintage will be pretty small, just as it is for TV made in the 1960s nowadays. There's still an audience but it gets smaller every year and kids aren't...
