Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Great point about the Laura quote - "I'm dead yet I live " - and it could sum up many themes of the show itself, and the legacy of the Laura Palmer character. Even beyond the show, the character will continue to live on - and if the show returns, she will too, even if that means as Carrie...

Re: Did Fans Not Understand Dougie was a Parody storyline

I also loved the Dougie storyline in general - the first time I have seen the series, and on every rewatch. I think it is at the same time both very funny and tragic. Just think of him standing lost and confused outside of the offices until dark, while Windswept by Johnny Jewel is playing... The me...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

there are productions going, but with quite a bit of sacrifices being made. Walking Dead 's less zombies and limited interaction format is very noticeable. That is very noticeable but, as I've said before, I think that those six tacked-on episodes were more of an experiment to get the industry movi...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Agree with those who say Lynch wouldn't direct remotely, unless it somehow made some narrative sense or was a select sequence of scenes that felt right to film in such a way. It does seem antithetical to his method to me. A month back, didn't someone say that Covid costs come out of the budget? Or w...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I don't believe that this has been mentioned, but a new Game of Thrones spin-off just halted production due to COVID. I think it's only supposed to be on hiatus a couple days, but still. Seems like a nightmare out there. Simply processing this from the perspective of someone who really just wants Ly...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 15 Movies

Same here, love Miami Vice. It's my favorite from Mann, really underappreciated. Cool that there's several people in this thread already who like it. I've only ever seen the Director's Cut, though. The theatrical starts with a cold open in the club, right? I don't know about any other differences, ...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 15 Movies

I can't bring myself to rank them, but (limiting myself to one film per director) I'd pick: The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) Shanghai Express Black Narcissus Rear Window The Night of the Hunter The Apartment (1960) Two-Lane Blacktop Céline and Julie Go Boating Stalker (1979) Paris, Texas Stop Maki...

Re: Did Fans Not Understand Dougie was a Parody storyline

I'm sure we've all seen Being There and Forrest Gump. I did not need the Lynch version of that story. To each his own. I thought it was hilarious. Whether it's hilarious or not, I'm pretty sure there's something more going on there than Being There or Forrest Gump. Commentary about this or that, fi...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

I ordered a set from abroad and the 4K disc doesn't work at all, taking minutes of stuttering to get past the CBS animation. That disc was the only reason I ordered this, my third boxset and seventh version of the show in various mediums. CBS told me to F off and getting it back to the retailer wil...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

How they even manage to fuck that up is a bit mystifying to me. Is it just that much of a low effort release? I had said in the other thread that I think it was never considered an actual flaw in the disc because it was fixed for many people by changing the settings. That doesn't change the fact th...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

Quick question though I think I already know the answer. This set does not have any new remasters of the original series, it's the exact same transfer used in 2014, correct? The only differences I can tell are the UHD disc (which is unusable for me) and a few extra special features. I have the 2014...

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread)

I realize posting this on a dormant thread is a long shot, but does anyone know if these sync issues are present on the "Television Collection " and/or "Z to A " box sets? They are. But the same workarounds exist. I think it was never technically accepted as a flaw in the manufa...

The film crews being directed from a continent away https://www.bbc.com/news/business-54986376 Jonah - you might want to check into a horror movie called Host from 2020. It's one of the more ingenious films of the COVID era. It has to do with a group of friends who stay in touch over Zoom during th...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Stuck in a loop is a good way to put it. It definitely was probably intentional, but something about it seemed a bit easy too - like an easy way to quickly reintroduce then wrap up a storyline from 25 years ago that probably would and should have been wrapped up sooner. I think it worked for the mo...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

To me, the Return showed just how little had changed in the town of Twin Peaks, or with its residents. Norma & Ed & Nadine: same story from 25 years ago. Dr Jacoby was still a nut. Becky & Stephen were basically parallels of Shelly & Leo. Heidi was still giggling. Bobby and James ha...
