Re: This Is The Street

It's still love, even if arranged, cursed or bought and sold, for that matter. Love ( folks still use that word, hunh?) is purely subjective, anyway. Some say that love can`t be bought. And probably most people say that Devon doesn`t love Nikki when he says things like "Maybe we met at the wro...

Re: This Is The Street

what makes you think that the rabbits play this part? I think that Visitor 1 is a rabbit, "but" entered the world of Nikki. She seems to habituate to that world in the first scene we see her. She comes from a place from which a rabbit could come from - from under a tree "in the garde...

Re: This Is The Street

the weird thing is, that none of these would happen if she didn't fall for Devon. the whole thing is triggered by her love for him. And she would not have fallen for Devon, if she wouldn`t have get the role. And she wouldn`t have get the role, if one of the rabbits hadn't used magic. No guarantee f...

Re: This Is The Street

so you're actually saying that there's a part of her that knows what's going on but she's struggling to understand that part..? Assume that there`s a part in her somewhere to that she could get access under suitable conditions. These suitable conditions seem to come from following the alley. If she...

Re: This Is The Street

I dunno if the 9 girls are 'guardian angels', though. They are quite malicious, charmingly so. They ae also 'freed' after the shooting at the climax. Maybe the curse made them act like that. They give her guidance in some instances. "During the shooting" there`s probably a breakthrough fr...

Re: North Carolina accent?

In my opinion Kingsley and Freddy don`t talk about a self-fullfilling prophecy, but joke about a real curse. And whether one believes in a real curse is one`s own decision. It`s the same with believing in a "person" as Mr. K I guess. But the effect of a real curse (if such a phenomena exis...

Re: This Is The Street

Michael, great post!! Oh, thank you, Jina. she doesn't understand but she's not in a complete ignorance either. As we have her in the confrontation scene and behind the clown mask she seems to be really despaired. MTTH suggests that she is also very depressed. they just can't do something about it ...

Re: This Is The Street

One of those lovely, perhaps imaginary, friends of hers ( Dory, maybe?) says ' In the future, when you wake from a dream, a kind of sleep, there will be someone familiar there.' Generally it is probably so that those friends are representations of her thoughts. It seems that she discovered that she...

Re: This Is The Street

Being possessed by, lost in, a Persona, is a typical situation, according to Jung. I think Jung proposed that another person can`t see someone without the Persona. That always led to the question in me how it would be possible that the Persona is active when someone is observed without knowing it. ...

It really sounds like coming from "Laura Dern". But is that true?

Re: North Carolina accent?

What is a curse? The curse seems to be completely independent from what Kingsley says. Kingsley and Freddy seem to display that they don`t believe in such superstitious phenomena. I don`t know exactly what the curse in IE is. Could be infertility, loosing a child, adultery, murder, getting lost in ...

Re: Silencio

It was the "know" which made me extract that. I think we don`t know why she says "Silencio" in that strange delirious mental state. But it`s there. Maybe it is the best "story" to take it as it is.

Re: North Carolina accent?

Or just that she was hypnotized. Yes, maybe that could be a reason for her changing point of view. We have some parallels. The woman in the hotel at the beginning doesn`t recognize the hotel. The Kinski character didn`t recognize the hotel. And the monolog woman says that it isn`t her house. We see...
