Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As for the new users posting so called 'hate' - this site has only recently allowed new users to register. I'm guessing that bitterly disappointed TR viewers flooded in because this is the only place you can share any kind of reasonable critique of the show. Everywhere else you're shouted down by ha...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

"Oh, there are certain citations to be found on both sides, to be sure." But there is 1 crucial difference: the level of reverence for the Lynch brand. If TR was made by some unknown and looked exactly the same - how many fans would it have? Would it still get a standing ovation at Cannes?...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

"i dislike the very common tendency for people to get on high horses and claim their opinion is the right one while the stupid plebs that like said work are fawning syncophats without the intelligence to see that they are praising the emperor's new clothes. it's a cop out..." Not in the ca...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

That 'budget' dispute really does seem like it was all about DL's salary. In a show like The Crown you can see the lavish budget in every frame. Where the hell did the cash go in TR? DL seems to have blown it on part 8 and fine Bordeaux for himself. Everything else looks like a student film shot on ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I had zero expectations personally. I didn't follow all the gossip and drama about the new series for the past 3 years and didn't even start watching the show until part 10. I just wanted some kind of follow up to the giant "How's Annie?" cliffhanger - not too much to ask.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The Dougie storyline had potential. MacLachlan and Watts were so well matched in it: he's gifted at really minimalist acting and she's great at just the right amount of OTT, so they fit together like ying and yang. If this was a separate film with say, him as a kind-hearted stroke patient and her as...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I don't buy that DL was ever really walking away from this project. He was just playing dirty Hollywood politics. Wasn't he already contractually bound by that point? He threw a bluff he had a 99% chance of winning because poor suckers like us old TP fans and the actors would twist Showtime's arm. T...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As for loose screws: Isabella Rosselini commented that Lynch LAUGHED during the shooting of the rape scene in Blue Velvet. Even knowing that there is a phenomenon of some people laughing to alleviate discomfort in awkward situations, it really makes you wonder...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Luckily, I'm in the camp of those that did not have the original TP ruined for them by TR. This is because I simply cannot take TR seriously - I just view it as ravings of a lunatic that are completely unconnected to the old TP. It's like someone stealing a masterpiece from the Louvre, running amok ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What's really sad is that was quite a no. of good bits of material scattered all through this - watching felt like sifting for a few diamonds in a pile of manure. Their presence only makes it all more painful because it makes you think of what could've been and all the lost potential. That 5% of art...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm aware of the separate gender thread but I still would like to mention here that the blatant misogyny has been unbearable in TR even by cable show and overall problematic Lynch standards. Older women are ridiculous nagging caricatures, younger ones are naked and lingerie-clad victims offered up t...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Hi, everybody! :D I've finally been able to register, but I've been following this forum ever since part 14. That ep was the breaking point for me and I gave up watching then. Like everyone else - I tried my absolute best to give it the benefit of the doubt, which is how I managed to get that far. I...
