Re: Part 5 - Case files (SPOILERS)
While IMDB isn't always accurate, it does credit Amy Shiels as appearing in a great number of the parts: part 5 -- part 16. If true, that's quite a large role for a Vegas showgirl. While I wouldn't be surprised if she has a larger role than her first appearance indicates, all the IMDb casting info ...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
I think the biggest potential downfall of the ratings not being good is it is unlikely another network will invest competently in another idiosyncratic artists vision again. But it was unlikely before the show started.

Re: Expectation setting by fans in the modern cyber arena
I hope this doesn't turn into a spat. We don't need insular echo chambers of like minded folks who never venture across the dividing line. I'm actually interested in engaging those who the thread addresses, and I admit I may not have done the best job doing that with the way I've expressed it (I jus...

Re: Expectation setting by fans in the modern cyber arena
I respect your opinion. But honestly, people are going to react however they genuinely feel about something. You can't tell people to force themselves to see something through rose coloured glasses just out of respect for the creators. I think people trashing outright verbal abuse to Frost or Lynch...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
I'm perfectly happy with this season being the end. It's more than I could have hoped for: Mark Frost and David Lynch coming together and creating something with total creative freedom. It's a very rare thing to see in the modern television market, and I'd only be interested in more seasons if the s...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Well they were largely presented as a Blu Ray extra. I'm not doubting they are but I'm interested if this is the first time anything from TMP resurfaced... The book and the new season being the only place it could.Metamorphia wrote:Why wouldn't it be canonical?

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Was the appearance of Buenos Aires in this episode the first indication that The Missing Pieces is canonical to the mythology? Without TMP there would be no association with Philip Jeffries.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Well they went there with the CGI Bob. I don't think it was CGI. Well, maybe CGI enhanced but I think they used the shot of Bob in the mirror in the season 2 scene where Leland is with Donna, and then they morphed that into Cooper's face. I think the grin looked quite the same. I'm thinking morphin...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Well they went there with the CGI Bob. I never would have predicted that and certainly wouldn't have predicted if I knew they were doing it that it would work so well. It was genuinely creepy... still I hope they don't overdo it. The Dougie storyline is growing on me somewhat. I'm getting some laugh...

Re: Expectation setting by fans in the modern cyber arena
Hi Agent Echo! It's an interesting discussion, so thanks for starting it. What I was talking about was the universal expectation a brand creates, which is actually a business issue. If you use a particular known brand name, such as 'Twin Peaks,' it creates an expectation in a consumer, based on fam...

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (SPOILERS)
James was never my favorite character in the original series or FWWM but there was something about his brief appearance that I found very sad, and suddenly I feel empathy for him. Here's a guy in his 40's who walks into a bar with a big smile on his face, and the smile drops when he sees a woman who...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
What time are they normally releasing the episodes to Showtime online subscribers? Two weeks ago I was busy running around all day and all the episodes had been released by the time I got home. Today I'm just sitting around and waiting....

Re: Expectation setting by fans in the modern cyber arena
As I've stated many times – and chatting to a couple of friends who are fans today, I know I'm not alone – if this show had been promoted as a new Lynch series that would feature characters from Twin Peaks, the reaction would likely have been less mixed. As a Lynch series, it's great. However, if y...

Re: Tamara Preston - Chrysta Bell - Horrible Acting (Spoilers)
Maybe I'm going in with less built-in expectations because I've only read maybe 1/4th of TSHOTP. So I don't really have any presuppositions of who Preston's supposed to be, etc. At least in my case, her depiction in the book doesn't have a whole lot to do with it. The swiveling hips walk, the odd e...

Re: Tamara Preston - Chrysta Bell - Horrible Acting (Spoilers)
I agree that people shouldn't be hard on Chrysta Bell. I do not like the character so far at all, but everything about the character, the way she walks, talks, the fact that Chrysta Bell plays her in the first place, is all there because David Lynch wanted it that way. Given how the character came o...
