Re: True Detective

Even though it's not anything remarkable, Season 2 has been much more entertaining and interesting than Season 1. What baffles me is that now after Episode 4 there has been lots of people bashing the season, and they are mostly criticizing it for the same exact things I thought that made the first s...

Re: Josie, Laura & Ronette: women in trouble

I wouldn't say that Ronette feeling shame is a BAD thing. I'd say that ONLY feeling shame is too limited to open the door. Diane Selwyn feels shame, and it's a start but one can't stop at shame in Lynch's world if one is to realize the beauty of what lies beyond. I agree that negative feelings have...

Re: Josie, Laura & Ronette: women in trouble

If it's Ronette's prayer that summons the angel, what does that tell us? Essentially, that her shame and guilt are rewarded by divine intervention. Well, I guess that depends on how you look at it. I don't think it's necessary a "reward" from being shameful, but it shows that even in time...

Re: Josie, Laura & Ronette: women in trouble

Yeah, I always found it sad that Ronette was so neglected in the series. Whenever a scene with her appeared, my interest would spike up very high. I always felt like "please, give me less Packard sawmill shenanigans, and more Ronette Pulaski!" One of the reasons I love Fire Walk with Me so...

Re: Episode 16

I don't remember if LostInTheMovies has already discussed about this in his videos, or somewhere else, but there are two lines in this episode I've always felt very interesting. Leland looking at the mirror, looking at Bob: "...we'll work the problem out... together." Leland says to Donna:...

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation

gotta be honest, didn't learn one thing about Twin Peaks I didn't already know. Well, sometimes the value of essays and analysis isn't in learning anything new about something, but to give words to things the reader already consciously or subconsciously thinks but cannot put them into words. For me...

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

I'll take this BOB over the one that says "Coop, what happened to Josie???" (or even the one that's grimacing in the lightning in ep. 16) any day! You forgot the "HAAAHHHAHHAHHAHHAAAAAAAA!" part from the quote  Yeah, although I recall being horrified when I saw the scene f...

Re: Episode 8 (Season 2 Premiere)

I'm not sure about the Little Man. I think the reason people see him as evil is that in FWWM he's laughing with Bob and described as the "arm" of Mike - which Mike has told us he cut off because it was evil. But in the same film he is clearly battling against Bob, and the role he plays fo...

Re: Fire Walk With Me early drafts

I recall in an issue of Wrapped in Plastic they did a full breakdown of an early draft. Can't remember which one though. From memory it was a version with all of Chet's lines given to Cooper, Laura sees Cooper in her bed, much like Annie, and there was a scene with Catherine. No Audrey and no 50's ...

Re: Gender Idenity

I think David sees "evil people" as responsible for their actions, yet under the influence of outside forces that take them over. These people are quilty for their crimes, but they can still be loved. In the interview on the book Lynch on Lynch, I recall David telling that Leland's problem...

Re: Fire Walk With Me early drafts

That's one reason FWWM rings really true to me because in a sense Leland's abuse results from his denial as much as his denial results from abuse. If there's a cycle in the film, it is a cycle of silence, of living within a web of "secrets" kept even from oneself. I am ok with finding out...

Re: What if the mystery had never been solved?

Bumping this thread. It got diverted into a discussion of ep. 16/17 but I'm keen to know what other people think of this big question - should the killer have been revealed? It's really several different questions. If yes, then... - should it have been revealed later? - should the show have ended w...

Re: The USC Q&As on one playlist

Was it in that Q&A where Grace also said that Frank wasn't even in the same room, but the mirror reflected another mirror which reflected Frank in another room? When she said that, I had a feeling that she's not remembering that stuff too well and is probably twisting her memories a bit. It woul...

Re: Episode 29

it would be interesting to hear the audio reversed. For all I know it could be Grace Zabriskie’s distorted backwards speech. Here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/43ej2326qlwhmw2/imwaitingforyou_backwards.wav?dl=0 I think it's Kenneth Welsh. By the way, it's odd that Frank Silva didn't play his sc...

Re: Episode 29

Earlier in the episode, I'm almost certain that Josie's drawer-pull-wailing is mixed into the squeak of the truck door closing as Earle is about to lead Annie to the grove. I checked it out and, man, I think I heard that too! I listened to it over and over again, and sometimes I couldn't get my bra...
