Re: TP:TR Gets Glowing Review in the Washington Post

This was just one critic but the overall critical consensus has been very positive. 72% on Metacritic I believe. Listen, it's hard to argue for The Return's failure when critics are hoisting it up the flagpole. I would walk around with a degree of smugness myself if my opinion aligned with the crit...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As a male who, throughout life, has had nothing but respect for all others, including all forms of life, and having been on every occasion the neglected and eventually abandoned party in romantic situations, I can't help but identify with a certain interpersonal dynamic that is typically experience...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

It's just interesting that gender inequality, which affects 100% of people, is seen as a minority specialist issue, while the type of screen on which you are watching the show can be discussed for pages. I think it's just the fact that gender issues have a certain political edge to them, while scre...

Re: Predictions - will Season 3 be the last Twin Peaks? (SPOILERS)

Agreed: time is definitely the big bad when it comes to the prospects of further TP. If Lynch is somehow satisfied with how the show has been put on the 'right' track again, and still feels that serial television is a beautiful thing, I wonder if (for the most part) moving back into a studio again,...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

But then I guess Tony was evil so didn't have a conscience to turn on him as such. In my view, the show never gave him a free pass. Despite his charisma, funny jokes and 'inner struggles', it only took a minute of counselling in Melfi's office every now and then to completely expose his hypocrisy a...

Re: TP:TR Gets Glowing Review in the Washington Post

Hardcore devotees attacked FWWM and they attack The Return today, and in both instances there is at least some element of fan expectation and ownership over how they expect Twin Peaks to behave and be conceptualized according to their own standard. So what I'm saying is that suggesting there is not...

Re: Season 3 Magazine Coverage and Articles Worldwide

Seems like she hasn't watched much of the show. I respect that her priorities are with her kids, but that's rather disappointing. Or she doesn't trust herself to comment in any depth on it without giving certain things away. The few final paragraphs gave me the impression that she might just be cla...

Good example. I wish Lynch/Frost had had a cunning plan too.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I would love a season 4. After this, they need to redeem themselves! I still have faith in Lynch as a director. I think he is more interesting that most other directors, even when he is not at the top of his game at this point. Improve the show's visuals, get some interesting central mystery as wel...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Even Laura's theme might have ended up sounding very differently today "Angelo, you are in the woods, there is a girl, she is lonely and afraid, and then there is this sound of electricity buzzing and a vortex forming above her head".[/list] "Oh, Angelo, that is so beautifully ...

So when Jade brought Laura to mind... he wasn't healed enough. When he drank the coffee, he wasn't healed enough to go all the way. When TOAM told him to WAKE UP, he still wasn't healed enough to do more than follow his intuition on the paper. When he ate the cherry pie and heard the piano notes, h...

Re: ROLLING POLL, CONTINUED! Your ongoing reaction to The Return, PARTS 1-16 (SPOILERS)

Ended up with 'Heavily mixed - leaning towards dislike'.

And yet I hope that when this is all over, and sufficient time away from anything related to TP has passed, I'll have an eagerness to rewatch the whole thing, and maybe have a fresh and improved perspective on it.

Re: When do you think will "Dougie" snap back to being Cooper? (Spoilers)

I can't wait to rewatch the whole Dougie storyline knowing this is how it ends up, knowing that he's aware and remembers all of this and loves all of them for being with him when he's at his most vulnerable. While I agree that this certainly creates a new layer to the whole Dougie story which could...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I sometimes wonder if my overall enjoyment would have been better if I hadn't read the episode threads. To me, they sound much the same: "Wow, that was the greatest hour of television I've ever seen. Now, let's obsess over minute details in the furniture as if they have profound meaning, before...
