Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I've always been amazed at how the great British sitcom writers could simply churn out amazing episodes for 5 seasons without apparently blinking. Then write 4 more sitcoms for good measure. Having 6 episode seasons obviously helps. The American tradition of 22-24 episode seasons seems guaranteed t...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Nighttime, all the creators i mentioned are showrunners/executive producers - which means that do have completely control over all aspects of production. How every single aspect of an episode looks and sounds. Yeah, but that doesn't mean nearly as much "complete control" as an auteur in f...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

For Twin Peaks this new beginning can not be understood without the wisdom of The Log Lady to get a gist of what we can expect from Dale Cooper. So here it is, the last log: "And now, an ending. Where there was once one, there are now two. Or were there always two? What is a reflection? A chan...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Just a thought this afternoon. Are log lady intros going to a be a part of this? I can see them as a way for Catherine Coulson to have a presence throughout the show in a way that wouldn't be too strenuous for someone with cancer. BUt I guess that wouldn't track with Lynch & Frost's conception ...

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?

I think in terms of sheer mindless addiction I was more obsessed with LOST, although I for sure love and at that respect Twin Peaks more just out of sheer artistry. The only other TV show which comes close in the department of subversive art is all the way over in Japan, with Evangelion. Seconding ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

True Detective comes close and is in a way auteur-like thanks to the teamwork of writer and director. Almost like the combo of Frost and Lynch, but Lynch creates in the writing stage too off course. But to truly be an auteur work I think the director need to write the material he/she directs or at ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

David Fincher on House of Cards,Noah Hawkley on Fargo David Finchers control over HoC aren't near Lynch level auteurship. I have no knowledge of Hawkley/Fargo though. But what I mean with auteur TV series is a creator which writes and directs every single epi... part, and like Lynch are heavily inv...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

I think Von Trier should release the scripts for Riget season 3 in a book or paperback. Like the workprint for season 3 that never was. Or the classic one - make the script into a graphic novel based on the original actors faces and the original overall look. But the interest probably isn't enough ...

NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I don't think every track on the new Johnny Jewel release are going to be in Twin Peaks. I think he did all tracks for Lynch to choose from and Lynch maybe wanted one or perhaps two of them. How do you think Jewel's songs are going to be used? I assume he or some stand-in for him (performer or jukeb...

NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Well, I got a nice little present tonight when attending BAM Rose Cinemas, the great arthouse/repertory theater in the Brooklyn Academy of Music. During ads before the film (ugh, remember when they didn't have those?), one clip started with the familiar green and brown lettering coming up on a blac...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

Well, of course we're sorry the third season of Riget didn't happen, since it was its author's very much pronounced intention - the scripts have been written, but then the deaths of two leads put the kibosh on the thing. So we're stuck with a MASSIVE amount of cliffhangers that we're forced to live...

I don't watch TV series, at least if they are longer than one season. You should probably change that ASAP. It's where the excellent storytelling's at nowadays. Movies really can't hold a candle to it. Damn right! I find myself losing more and more interest in current movies while at the same time ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Hello everyone. Longtime listener, first time caller, etc. Like a lot of you, I first caught Twin Peaks when I was slightly too young to 'get' it on its first airing here in the UK, and have been re-watching, obsessing, having nightmares about BOB, and quietly hoping for 'The Return' ever since. No...

Haven't been as obsessed over anything - TV and Film, as I am with Twin Peaks. Well, the only thing dancing in the same league are Lynch's other fiction work. Nothing else. I'm a huge movie geek but nothing else than the work of Lynch comes close. I don't watch TV series, at least if they are longer...
