Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

But then again, I shouldn't be surprised since FWWM provoked a similar reaction if I recall correctly. I am curious about this. I remember feeling gutted and frustrated when I first saw FWWM, and I love it now. I wonder if I'll come around to S3. Can't see it happening now, but time will tell. I of...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

And if you'd care to look, you'd see the majority of those who've liked it is not so "vast" as you like to claim, and has not been even as it was airing - don't mistake the ovations of Lynch's regulars, new actors over the moon about the fact that they've been in the Genius' workshop and ...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Scattered thoughts: I’ve just about entirely convinced myself that the Rancho Rosa logo is the mouth of Johnny’s bear, with the lightbulb inside a circle and the material around the logo resembling the stuff in the bear’s mouth. (Btw, what a missed opportunity that Showtime isn’t marketing those, wi...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I saw 12-18 at MoMA today and I completely agree about how binging makes the pacing appear smooth and deliberate. There was a one hour intermission between 14 and 15 which was a little jarring but unavoidable considering the running time. You need an hour to process that Lissie performance. ;) (I k...

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)

Does anyone know if the Briggs home was shot in the same location as was used in FWWM/TMP? The “chair” room looks like it could conceivably be the same space as the room where Garland read the Bible to Betty, with a fireplace newly added.

Re: should "Windswept" have been utilized more in The Return?

Yes! Both the titular track and others like Insomnia, as you point out. But I wouldn't know where they would fit... I wonder why Lynch went for an instrumental version of Saturday for Chromatics' second Roadhouse appearance? Did the lyrics not fit? Maybe Megan Louise simply wasn’t available, so it ...

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)

Nice little self-effacing blooper DKL left in which I hadn’t caught before: as Gordon exits the police station to join Diane for her smoke break, the door smacks him in the arm. He finishes his line with a smile like a true professional, aside from hitting the word “join” a little hard in surprise w...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

All I know is that the Woodsmen are creatures that exist in a completely different dimension, that's why they look otherworldly, and that's why they can appear out of and dissolve into nothingness as the light without a cause suddenly fades into some sort of twilight zone. I also pretend to underst...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Imagine that Cooper leaves the lodge and instead of ending in Las Vegas goes instead to TP to find the subterranean entry and Phillip Gerard and talk to Jeffries to send him back to save Laura? There is a 3-hour movie there with no Dougie, no green glove, and so on and on. Now that would have been ...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

Also worth noting the way time skips back and forth in the mauve room in Part 3. A similar phenomenon is seen in Part 8 with the Woodsmen — both when they initially approach Mr. C’s corpse and when they pace around the convenience store. Individual actors/characters jump around in time and space in ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Ha — I appreciate the levity! I do highly recommend finding Between Two Worlds — it’s online, you don’t have to dig too much. I think you might enjoy it, particularly Sarah’s portion. It’s really a remarkable performance by Zabriskie, heartbreaking and creepy, with none of the macabre elements of TP...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I do think, when it comes to the sexual abuse of a family member, there is a grey area between knowledge and ignorance. I’m not condoning anyone’s behavior, real or fictional, but it is a well-documented psychological phenomenon that, particularly in instances of parental abuse, the other parent oft...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Boske, I get what you’re saying. As with Leland, I don’t think it’s as simple as Sarah being either a murderer or being “possessed.” I think the thing inside her feeds off her rage, anguish and guilt, just as Bob fed on Leland’s lust and darker impulses and in turn enabled him to indulge them. I’ve ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think the original show did Sarah a greater dishonor by shuffling her off-stage with an abrupt and artificial ending that failed to address the reality of her grief and pain. Sarah’s rage in TP:TR feels appropriate and more realistic (from a metaphorical/allegorical standpoint) to where Episode 17...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I recall people speculating that the patrons in the Double R change when Bing bursts in looking for Billy. It’s not quite that simple, though...there are three different configurations: (1) the first shot; (2) the second and third shots (the “Bing” shots), which feature new patrons, but also show se...
