Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)

So I'm assuming Billy is the guy in the jail with the broken face? Seemed "manufactured" to me.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

It reminds me of The Cremaster Cycle more than anything else I've seen. Yes, absolutely. I've been saying this for awhile. The shot of the gas pumps at Big Ed's reminded me of the gas station scene in Cremaster 2--clean, spare, supremely precise in its artifice--as does the convenience store in par...

Re: Part 13 - What story is that, Charlie? (SPOILERS)

I'm loving having a week between episodes to really ponder and digest the content. I'm eternally grateful that Lynch/Frost didn't go the Netflix route and drop this all at once. I still really wish they had. I think it would have made a world of difference and I'm just grateful that in the near fut...

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

I think a lot of what people are interpreting as "trolling" (a relatively recent concept DKL has likely never heard of and has no interest in) is actually shaggy-dog storytelling, a real lost art in today's fast-paced media Perhaps in part yes but a lot of what he's doing with these scene...

Not if the entire show is constructed that way.

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

Oh my Lynch is having so much fun screwing with people's expectations. All this build up to Audrey, with the earlier scenes with Frank and Ben almost tantalizingly dancing around naming Richard's mother, not to mention all the buildup for leaving her off the screen, then she abruptly appears in a s...

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

The Audrey scene is an example par excellence of Lynch fucking with us. Though there's a lot of scenes like that in this and I don't mean just this episode. Really the whole show is like that. As for this set-up with Audrey leading somewhere or meaning much within the larger narrative...I'm not at a...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Sure, we're all a little bit ridiculous here. I mean, spending time on a discussion board pouring over the intricacies of a TV show is inherently a pretty ridiculous act. I don't think it is, especially when the TV show has been conceived as a work of art. Also, I don't think it's necessary or advi...

I do like it but it is kinda straight out of the Zeist version of Highlander 2.

Because it's not 1945 there. They are in a timeless space/place.

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

Wow BOB wow. Part 8 is perfection. As good as it gets. So great. The kind of great that makes any other issues I have with the show negligible or even outright irrelevant. Lynch's Voyage of Time/2001 complete with return to Castle Caladan and Third Stage Guild Navigators firing into space. Exquisite...

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

You have to wonder who Coop will even remember. It seems most of his memory is gone, and the only thing that remains are his basic personality traits. If Dougie Coop were to see pictures of Annie and Audrey placed side by side, which one would garner the strongest reaction? Coop was never in love w...

Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

Bizarrely perhaps (and this is even a surprise to me) I actually far prefer the other locales and characters to the familiar ones. This is probably a large part of why I prefer the approach of parts 1-3. I'm absolutely not actively anticipating when Fenn's entrance will be for instance. Frankly, I r...

Loved 1-3. Thoroughly disliked 4 (except for the interrogation scene and the song at the end). Was mostly indifferent to 5. Liked this one better than the last two.
