Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Here goes: I'd be disappointed if the new shows relies too much on too many of the old characters. I'd be disappointed if there's too much focus on the new characters, unless it is the new characters played by Laura Dern, Balthazar Getty, and other castmembers from Lynch's movies - a stronger conne...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

- COOP FLEW THE COOP CONFIRMED. It's always been my best case scenario (as opposed to the other main options, 'corrupt FBI agent' or 'Leland 2.0') and I'm thrilled to see it happen. My French is not good but the translation I just read on Welcome To Twin Peaks says that this part is referring to &q...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

If you stick to the french version (not pride of my translation btw but when I saw that I was too exited to wait) it "sounds " like an english translation (it is correct french but you can tell). So the lake vs river could have been lost in translation Gotcha, thanks! Well, we could just ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Whoa! Sooo... - we have two 'leads': one very mysterious author of the dossiers (and please tell me I'm not the only Gravity Falls fan giggling at this) and one FBI lady. Could she be Diane or a new agent? At any rate it would make a lot of sense if the character they're introducing this way were to...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

As much as I wish Hank's ex-bookhouse role and relationship with Harry* was delved into more latter-S2 I kind of like his arguably underwhelming exit, almost in the same way that I enjoy Earl's swift destruction. Hank had been seriously messing with fate and his second-chance for a season and a hal...

For your consideration:

there are some gems in the scripts but this... this... is so pure.

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/

this book is not going to be the story of the life of the inhabitants of TP from 1990-2014 as we thought/hoped/believed it would be. Can we agree on that at least?d We now know for sure that it's going to be a dossier, so yeah, this much sounds fair... I'd say this dossier will probably cover thing...

His literary agent was the one who answered a direct question from a dugpa member at a recent book fair, and he said that it covers the timeskip. Hardly jungle telegraph gossip!

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

Videogames! - Kentucky Route Zer o, a gem of magical realism and middle-of-nowhere americana that's fully accessible to non-gamers since it uses the trappings of text and graphic adventure genre to build its world, but without any of the difficulty. Currently on episode 3/5 so it's got its own littl...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Ah, right! I was going off Deschanel's comment that they teased an origin of the wheelchair, with several possibilities, but never got to it, and I must've conflated it with Basically Everyone Else's supernatural troubles. I'd still much rather have it go unexplained, but at least it would be differ...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Personally, I'm glad that neither Eileen nor Johnny's disabilities got the supernatural explanation they were vaguely setting up... I'll be glad to change my opinion if something comes up eventually (in the book?) and it's a cool story, but there's already Gordon, Philip Gerard and in some ways Nadi...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/

I think your first statement is pretty unlikely myself. I do believe the book will contain some post-finale info, but the question is how much? It may just be the last 5% of the book, an epilogue of sorts. Either war, it's still hard for me to believe that anything revealed in the book will be esse...

Hey, I didn't notice mention of it on this thread, unless I've missed it..anyone know when they changed the text/description on the main teaser page for Frost's book? http://us.macmillan.com/static/fib/twin-peaks/ "will prep fans for the upcoming Showtime series like nothing else out there.&qu...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Ep 16 is fine and all, but wow, I wish Lynch had directed that one. Ep 17 too, assuming he would trash most of the script... Hah, same. Not sure how controversial of an opinion it is, but while I was originally a little frustrated by their choice of having Laura be the one who solves her own murder...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Agreed with Lost in the movies, great comparisons. And it makes me wonder how much the original plans for a never-ending structure were ever feasible at all, even with the best imaginable plotting and writing. I think so, but with extreme difficulties and not with the way the plot had been establish...
