Re: Black Lodge/White Lodge mythology
I wouldn't go so far as to say that TP is a thinly cloaked Isis Unveiled, however, most of the logic behind the occult/magic/supernatural forces in TP is defined by Blavatsky in Isis Unveiled vol 1 (Science). Particularly, her description of electricity as a life force and a conduit for spiritual m...

Re: Black Lodge/White Lodge mythology
It's like I'm the only person on this forum that knows this. Not the only person, though maybe the loudest. I think Frost borrowed several elements from theosophical works -- in particular Blavatsky's -- but I never got the feeling I was watching a thinly cloaked 'Isis Unveiled' while watching Peak...

Re: Black Lodge/White Lodge mythology
The myth of the Lodges was taken by Mark Frost from a book called Psychic Defense, which was referencing the real world legend/folk tale of the Lodges as told by Helena Blavatsky in her 1888 quintessential apocrypha Isis Unveiled and once more in The Secret Doctrine. The White Lodge is essentially a...

Re: [spoilers] A theory on 8 and the 8.
Way to think out of the box! Yours is a very confounded hypothesis, indeed. I've been pondering that sphere that descends along the infinity symbol in episode 17, and so far your explanation is the first I've read that actually holds some weight to eight. Though I would add, I've always assumed that...

Re: Laura killing BOB/Cooper's search
I think that when DoppleCoop came out of the lodge at the end of Season 2 he went on to kill Diane, perhaps he carved her eyes out? The thing is that the good Coop is in the lodge , therefor he has only an indirect knowledge of Diane's fate at the hands of his shadow self, or so I'm guessing. This s...

Re: Cooper's conversation with The Fireman in episode 1 (linear and non-linear approaches)
Firemen fight fire. They regulate the flame. Fire walk with who? The renaming of the character from the giant to fireman is just Frost’s way of expanding on his original myth. The only thing that stinks is the explanation of Judy... Why would Gordon, Coop, & Briggs seek out a negative entity? Go...

Re: Chopping Wood Inside podcast Interviews actor Stewart Strauss (our favorite Woodsman)
Thank you for that!
I'm bookmarking now so that I have something to listen to on my drive to the beach tomorrow.
P.S. I'm totally going as the "gotta light" woodsman for Halloween.

Re: DoppelBob
Bob’s doppel was in a deleted scene from Episode 29. A single shot of him can be seen on one of the “atmospherics”/menus on the Blu Ray. When you say Bob's doppelgänger, do you mean two Frank Silvas? One with regular eyes and one with contacts? I think I remember seeing a still photograph taken on ...

Re: Philip Jeffries learned the horrific truth about Twin Peaks before we, the viewers did...
Part 8 seems like the perfect opportunity for Frost and Lynch to indulge a lot of their greatest interests: the occult, historical fiction, innocence vs demonic evil, movies, the 1950s, the atomic bomb. The series as a whole seems like one where they've found a lot of common ground and reached a si...

Re: Philip Jeffries learned the horrific truth about Twin Peaks before we, the viewers did...
Most of that interview seems legit, but the "Satanists" reference is pretty odd and doesn't sound like Mark. Wonder if he meant it a tad ironically or was jerking the interviewer's chain, and the tone doesn't come across on print? He does have a very dry sense of humor in interviews. If y...

I believe the interview you are looking for might be this one: http://www.lukeford.net/profiles/profiles/mark_frost.htm Personally I wouldn't trust this source too much though. It's hardly an official or public record of statements made, and the transcription doesn't even get Sherilyn Fenn's name r...

Meh, what a typo. Or perhaps a freudian slip? thanks for a very good post, your previous one, not the one i quoted above. i recognize parts of that interview you are talking about and i too have been looking for it again.. on a search i came up with this, but it doesn't mention the source or any mo...

Re: Who is Judy? (Spoilers)
To me, it makes perfect sense on a narrative level. At the beginning of the season, Mother is summoned by sex and kills the lovers. At the middle of the season, Cooper awakes again to his sexuality. At the end of it, Mother fucks Cooper. Plus, I found it weird, since we're talking so much about Jud...

It's also straight out of Ronnie Rocket, which revolves heavily around electricity and "reverse electricity" as life forces. Lynch's fascination with electricity as a mysterious otherwordly element is well-documented and has been a theme in most of his films to a greater or lesser degree....
