Re: What Other Directors/Actors Think of Season 3

wonderful French director Bertrand Bonello is a big Lynch fan and has been a big Return advocate. This is in French but I'll link anyway: http://next.liberation.fr/images/2017/09/08/dans-twin-peaks-il-y-a-un-geste-amoureux-de-la-part-de-lynch_1595046 a couple of translated excerpts: https://pbs.twi...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Something I don't usually see brought up, not even by DougieCoop supporters, is a protective instinct toward him. It was a big part of my experience and it doesn't sound too far from Lynch's occasional remarks (at least two separate occasions) that it'd be nice to have a Dougie to feed and take car...

Re: [spoilers] A theory on 8 and the 8.

Very cool! I like it. Can you go into a little about "the orb (Cooper)" crossing the intersection? We didn't see his orb, then? And when you say her universe was killed, what do you mean?

Re: What Other Directors/Actors Think of Season 3

I can't believe we are still talking about what might have gone wrong re: the 18 hours and why there's not more time spent on the original characters and in Twin Peaks. Unless I missed something at some point, I believe all evidence points to Lynch wanting 18 hours to tell this exact story, and havi...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

There's a region B release of The Third Man from Studio Canal thats still in print. It's a fantastic release, a 4k restoration. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk Can a 4k be played on a regular Blu Ray? This is where I get confused . It's just a 4k remaster, not an actual 4k UHD blu-ray. Those a...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

BTW Mr. Reindeer, now that I bought a Blu Ray just for this series, can you recommend any absolute must haves on Blu Ray that are in your collection, Lynch or not Lynch. Note: I already have digital copies of FWWM and MD so I probably won't be buying those on Blu Ray, at least not right away. Here'...

Re: What Other Directors/Actors Think of Season 3

Sam Esmail just named it the best TV of 2017 on a podcast with two other critics from The Ringer, who each revealed their top 10s. It's a great little listen. The two critics involved placed The Return #1 and #2.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

There’s also the fact that most of the exposition-y dialogue feels very Frost, both in terms of his interests (mythology-building, the supernatural and arcane) and his writing style (see similar long stretches of exposition in his last two books). Watching DKL — a man notoriously distrustful of wor...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

David Lynch playing Gordon Cole remains a very important piece of all this. It's too bad it had to rub so many of you the wrong way. I love the layers and all it contributes and ties together Part of what? Subverting audience expectations? To see Cole as an old school ie inappropriate boss? I don’t...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Cooper is trapped inside Dougie, watching the world and his life and the life he could have had pass by. That's the struggle, and an appropriate one for someone who has been trapped in the lodge for 25 years. And I think it's about the components of identity, how Cooper is who he is and likes what ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

the Globes have always been in favor of Lynch, and he is on their radar... which sometimes a lot of other shows aren't. (there's just too many shows.) But Mulholland Dr. and Lunch were nominated. And Peaks, Machlachlan, Laurie and Fenn were nominated (with three big wins). Ahhh interesting, just lo...

What a brilliant post! You've been missed around these parts, Boske. :) Thank you Agent Earle, it is nice to see familiar people around, very humbled by your reply. Not as a response to you, but to some folks earlier in the thread, apropos Dougie: I do not hate Dougie, and Kyle did a great j...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm pleased as punch to see both Loving Vincent (please check out a trailer and collect your jaw at the end) and The Breadwinner (haven't watched it yet but it's by the team that made Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, so that's as promising a pedigree as it gets) get some love in the animation c...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

And I have always read meta-commentary into her scenes. Nearly all of her dialogue, full of complaints and demands, sounds like a reflection of what she was saying on Twitter. It's very hard not to notice this if you know any of the vague rumors swirling throughout production, though I was hoping i...
