Re: Phillip Jeffries imposter / Lost Highway connection?

The voice was modulated. - Mordeen While first watching the show I also started to suspect Albert, especially due to his facial expressions during the prison interview with Mr.C. However, after playing around with the voice pitch of the phone call a few months ago, I am now leaning more towards it ...

Re: Sincerity

The word trolling is obnoxious in the first place. Sure, there was "trolling" in The Return, but that doesn't mean it wasn't 100% sincere in that it homed in on a set of themes and made the exact thing that fit those themes, the exact thing that needed to be made/said rather than what we w...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

Very interesting discussion, and I have little to add except to say that I don't think Naido is meant to be thought of as a Tulpa. Diane was a Tulpa up through her demise in Part 16. IF (big IF) we see the real Diane in Part 17/18, then Naido was simply something else, a way of imprisoning Diane, bu...

Re: No Ray Wise?

For me, the only scene that fell flat in any way was Wally Brando's monologue. It lent nothing to the story other than giving Lucy and Andy another ditsy interaction. However, Sheriff Truman's look of bewilderment and frustration made it pay off, because it made me feel like I was looking through h...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

Fair enough. I have no objections with your writing. I'm only curious, why do you think is it that the present time is ripe for the formula of the so-called Prestige TV to be shaken up, as you put it? Thanks for reading and considering it! Shoot, man. That's a long story and I've been writing a lot...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

There's simply no way of telling if this will be as impactful and influential as The Sopranos were this soon. I'd say at least a decade must pass after the airing to be able to make such a judgement. And when you look at how quickly it was put away - if not downright forgotten - in the mainstream s...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

A few things, most of which I've said before. But first, I just want to say how much I love Jerry Horne's idea that Cooper entered into Laura's dream in Part 18. I had never heard that before, but it totally fits with the theory of her mother's voice calling to her, and her waking up in bed the morn...

Re: No Ray Wise?

The Bellucci scene was, as far as I know, mainly for tax cuts that you somehow become eligible for if you film in France. The end credits of each episode mention it towards the end Uhhh... That scene cuts to the very heart of what the entirety of The Return was depicting. We live inside a dream. Pr...

Re: No Ray Wise?

As insane as this sounds, I now hope that Season 3 was mostly a cleaning of the pipes for both Frost and Lynch. They were interested in Twin Peaks, sure, but I think their focus sometimes drifted to things that didn't have anything to do with the show. There wasn't any real reason why David Lynch h...

Re: No Ray Wise?

Baffled to me meaning when they sat down and were compelled to revisit their hit show by their train of thought with it. Like how did they start with their past product and remembering when it was in its glory and come up with things like take hit character Cooper and make him not Cooper for 90% of...

Re: No Ray Wise?

I like these ideas, but Jeffries still feels more relevant to the story to me. If it was Chet Desmond who had uttered "we live inside a dream" in FWWM, it would work, but he didn't. With Jeffries in FWWM, we see the confusion of interdimensional travel from the outside (from Cooper's and ...

Re: No Ray Wise?

I don't think Frost/Lynch wanted to mix the Vegas world with the Twin Peaks world, so her character could have shown up briefly in Twin Peaks. The easiest way I can think of is having her show up at the RR Diner (even though she was never at the diner in the original series) during one of the scene...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

The Sharon Van Etten is great and getting great reviews.

Elsewhere, Caleb Deschanel was nominated for Best Cinematography for the German film Never Look Away. That's a pretty impressive feat, even if the director of the film is known to the Academy due to The Lives of Others.

I'm with you on that and think she played it really well. Man, if only they'd focused on that more and dropped J.J. Wheeler. I just happened to be envisioning the season filmed a decade or so earlier, and pictured her roped into the Gordon and Albert outing. Audrey is who first came to mind back wh...

Re: No Ray Wise?

This is just my reading of Ray Wise's performance in FWWM, but his few showings of remorse or sympathy in FWWM always struck me as being just that: shows, deliberately put on by Leland to convince himself and the world that he was a good guy. There's a scene directly after the fingernail scene, whe...
