Re: No Spoilers Poll: Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down or 'Meh' On S3?
Apart from bits and pieces I still haven't rewatched the episodes, which tells me a lot - if I'd loved it I would have by now. I warmed to it with Episodes 3 & 4 and am going with the flow for what it is. But it isn't what I'd hoped it would be all these years - or even close to what I imagined...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
Does anyone else, even those who are over the moon on this new series, agree that the next part MUST bring a resolution of some sorts to the blank Cooper/Dougie deal? We can't have another whole episode with Cooper standing around. The joke has worn thin. It's making me worried for the long-term plo...

Re: Twin Peaks: The Missing Music (SPOILERS)
The lack of music in so many scenes was jarring in my first run through the first four parts, but on a re-watch it became less so. I actually think it would be a mistake to bring back too much of the original show's music, at least in its original form. It was a mistake to use the original theme una...

Re: References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)
The characters played by Belushi and Knepper are basically (lazily) the Castigliani brothers again. The multiple shots of where a phone is ringing before we find out are pretty much from the same movie.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)
This may have been mentioned (don't have time to look through 40 pages of forum). Does anybody else have a pet peeve with situations when movies or TV shows use production photos as photos of characters? This is done so often. They'll use still photos of characters from a particular scene which were...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I'm glad that some people are willing to admit disappointment, as I was recently in another thread. So many superfans of anything are hesitant to say anything negative. I'm in the camp of those who were originally resistant but are now getting into the groove of what this new thing is. I think a lot...

Re: Windom Earle storyline- what was wrong, what was right
Re-watching the show over the past few weeks, and not having watched most of the Earle episodes since 1991, I found the plotline ultimately disappointing. It would have been better had Earle stayed "on the board," but it points to the uneven nature of the show's writing during the second s...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18
I read this over the weekend, before watching the new series. It was a semi-interesting diversion, but not much more. It's clear that a split exists between Frost and Lynch over what's important in the series, and I believe Lynch referred to this book as just Frost's version of the show's history. T...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks
You can reverse this argument, though. You can argue that the clarity and 'normality' of flat digital can in fact become strange and surreal - Lynch was doing a variant of this back with his early digital shorts on the PD150 (see Darkened Room). He's doing similar things here with it, albeit on muc...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread
I went to "FWWM" in a theater on Monday, a tiny theater that shows old movies (mainly via Blu-ray projection) and is having a Lynch week. They followed Lynch's instructions and amped up the volume, and during the Canada/"Pink Room" scene, the theater and seats vibrated. Pretty co...

Re: No Spoilers Poll: Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down or 'Meh' On S3?
Guess this is as good a place as any for a mini-review. Very mild references to specific things may follow. I was late to the party, waiting to watch the first four parts until I had finished re-watching the original show and movie on Blu-ray, and reading Frost's book (I also went to the movie in a ...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks
Out of the many things with which I have problems, the cinematography tops the list. I really despise the look of this show. Lynch said ten years ago that he now prefers video to film, but I believe he was referencing only the portability of a MiniDV camcorder. Today's digital shooting is much diffe...

Re: Mistakes/Goofs
Just for the new series, on the second day of the glass box story, before Tracey visits again, Sean is replacing an SD card. In the wide shot of him doing that, he's wearing the shirt he was the day before, not the one from that day. I usually don't notice goofs.

Re: Confess your Twin Peaks sins
Episode 16 largely blows. It was poorly directed atop a badly structured script. Wise's histrionics when he is locked in the cell and confronted are cringe inducing. Episodes 15, 17, and 18 are better.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017
Grr, it might be an agonizing few days. I've decided I won't be watching tomorrow, not until later in the week. I'm in the middle of re-watching the show on Blu-ray (many episodes not viewed since they originally aired), and still have a few days of that. I want to know the general flavor of reactio...
