Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Well, if most of the other episodes had been as good as nr 15, then I might not have needed to spend so much time in this thread. Oh dear! You're getting my hopes up... Hope I'm not providing false hope here. I just enjoyed most of it, that's all. No worries. A lot of people who are frustrated with...

Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I've heard nothing about a giant drop in subscriptions since the show first aired, but there is expectation they will drop once the show is complete. But in any case, who cares? Ratings have very little to do with the quality of the show. Some of the greatest shows of all time had poor ratings and ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Ooooooooh-kaaaaaayyyy, I don't know how to multi-quote, but here are a few of my thoughts on some of the above posts. Lynch is teasing or trolling or whatever you want to call it. It's not as if the punishing tedium of the show feels to him like a more conventionally-paced show feels to everybody e...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Ratings? I thought that whore died! Seriously, Showtime cares more for the number of subscriptions that TP generated. They were aware from the start that it's no GoT or Walking Dead, so I think they knew what they were getting into when green lighting the Return. The number of subscriptions jumped ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

When I saw FWWM I liked it right away. Now I realize that somebody may warm up the the Return having not known at the moment what it was that was taking place. For me, I think I have a pretty good idea what is going on and it's not pretty. I just did not know whether it was deliberate, accidental, ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I thought Part 14 was one of the best of the season. As with the other best ones, it becomes better the more I think about it. And yet somehow it, like The Return as a whole, also gets worse the more I think about it. How can I simultaneously say I'm quite enjoying The Return and consider what we'v...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Finally, an article that DARES to propose that THE RETURN might be a self-indulgent disaster; and, apparently, the ratings stink as well: http://www.showbiz411.com/2017/08/15/ratings-disaster-showtimes-twin-peaks-reboot-fails-to-make-top-150-cable-shows-for-sunday-night Not a very good source. Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I loved the look of the Pilot more than anything. When I think Twin Peaks I think grey, moody skies, always threatening rain. I agree, but that battle was fought and lost so long ago. You're talking about two hours out of a 32-hour series (speaking in "network tv hours," of course). Washi...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Remember Judge Clinton Sternwood? He was in, if I recall correctly, precisely two episodes of Twin Peaks, yet he was a fully formed, rounded, nuanced and believable character. This was possible because actual screenwriters wrote those episodes. The major characters in the new Twin Peaks are not eve...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What they didn't write is, 'Coop disappeared through the electrical socket and reappeared naked on the floor of Jades apartment'. Unless I blinked and missed it they also wrote, 'Tracie/Jade/Janey-E all strip down for the cameras in various scenes so they can be shot naked'. How about a bit of equa...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I loved this thread when I first joined because it was a safe haven for the disappointed. It is changing now. So, and before it's too late, can we just go back to the old days of avoiding those who love the show so much, since they have a gazillion other places to gush over it, and recommence ventin...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Some of the staunchest supporters of TPTR don't seem to hold the original TP in as high a regard as us older fans who watched it countless times and cherish it for its flawed beauty. I'm even getting the feeling that Lynch himself is almost being resentful to fans who adored the original, since it ...
