Re: Different Twin Peaks podcasts
My preferred podcast throughout the summer was "Suck Professor" on Youtube. One enthusiastic fan (with the odd gap in general knowledge about the show, but with plenty of theories) and one bewildered newcomer. Great infantile banter between the hosts. Not exactly for those who take the sho...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work
To answer the question of this thread, I do believe that The Return is work to be reckoned with, and which will grow in stature over time. It makes everything else look small and formulaic. I don't know where it sits in Lynch's filmography, but it's certainly as great a work of art as I've ever see...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Good post, Mr. Reindeer, and your reading of it all seems entirely plausible. Thanks. Despite my rather constant whining these past couple of months, I still haven't been able to tie everything together into a coherent criticism. If the show had been all bad, then it wouldn't have been a problem. Bu...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks
one that sticks out a lot to me is the entire introduction of Mister C - from the night time driving to "American Woman" to the entry to Otis and Buella's place to the meeting with Darya and Ray. everything about that scene is great, the night light, the camera angles, the lingering on fa...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
Time elapsed might be the essence here. Just as those of us who prefer the original series could be accused of cozying up in the warmth of our familiar blanket, having grandma read our favourite bedtime story for the umpteenth time, so could The Return's hallelujah crowd be somewhat susceptible to t...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work
So as far as it goes, I'm well aware that those of us who really went for the Return are 'geeking out' over it to an extent that others might well find nauseating and even pretentious, but some of us have held it in quite a while I guess. I really wanted to love this, and although in places I didn'...

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)
To those who enjoyed the return (and maybe even those who only enjoyed the last part) , but who aren't sure about a continuing story, I'd ask what you'd have thought if part 17 had ended season 3, and part 18 had been the premier of season 4. Would you say "This premier was the perfect ending....

Re: Poll: Worst Roadhouse performance
I would hardly vote it worst but I will say Rebekah Del Rio's autotune made her song more frustrating than it should be. It's a long song and a bit samey or repetitive already - though otherwise quite gorgeous - so having that autotune effect where it sounds like a robot is singing every 30 seconds...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Some of you seemingly enjoyed my video on David Lynch’s self-indulgence from about a month ago, so I decided to make a new video talking about a few more issues with the show, primarily Evil Cooper's character and the lack of true mystery. For those interested, here’s a video link: https://www.yout...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
There were a lot of great little performances in this show. But everyone's role compared to Kyle was so small, it's questionable if anyone but Kyle might get a nomination (not sure if Kyle will either, but if anyone will, it's probably him). Yeah, I'm not belittling the actors as such - I enjoyed s...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I've done a couple rewatches. It's not very rewatchable. So much skippable content that slips even below Cheerleader Nadine quality. My esteem for Kyle has also increased. If the retarded guy is consistently the best part of the show, and those stock establishing shots  , that says a lot abou...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I've been doing a very protracted re-watch of Season 3 (I guess that's what we're calling it now? ;) ). I started out watching quite quickly, like a few episodes a day, but I got tired of it. I just find the thing to be too dispiriting and dark and cold and all those adjectives to be really watchab...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I believe The Return's script was definitely a collaborative effort. Yet the final product resembles an extended version of Mulholland Drive more than any of Lynch's other films. So, did Frost end up seeing and loving Mulholland Drive? Did he come around on the promise of that style of storytelling...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
As for speaking my mind about Twin Peaks, you gotta know that a lot of that comes from my thorough enjoyment of the WHOLE of the original Peaks. Yep, I'm a staunch defender of the so-called crappy segment of Season 2, I've always been articulate about it and I've taken a lot of crap for it over the...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Wow, Gazebo, I bow down to your way with words ... Just beautiful, thanks, for your brilliant articulation of pretty much my own feelings; alas, I'm too lazy to put them on paper and would probably mess it up if I did, so it's super nice to read something coherent and insightful from a fellow longt...
