Re: Revealing the killer - public vs. private

Yeah when I saw that deleted scene in FWWM of Laura at the Hayward and Leland calls on the phone, there's this look that the Doctor and his wife share while the ominous music plays and I just felt like "oh my god, they know." Yeah, it floored me. It certainly changes the tenor of the show.

I like talking about Josie too but I don't think anyone's trying to hijack your discussion. Threads have their own organic rhythms, they go all over the map because of the way people's minds work - especially TP fans.

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation

I'm not going to disagree or agree with any of this - but I don't think it's worth having a conversation about something other than Lost's essay in the thread about Lost's essay.

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

I didn't realize the whole 'planet of corn'/garmonbozia thing extended back to Frost - I often wondered if it was just the brainchild of Robert Engels and Lynch circa FWWM.

I know Engels (I think it was Engels) made it clear it wasn't a 'planet' per se so much as another place, another dimension.

Re: Journey Through Twin Peaks: the complete presentation

Yes, I know who it is now - what I'm saying is, it's not immediately obvious to everyone else whose kid it is, even if we watch the show and are not LostInTheMovies.

It is, also, just a coincidence, not a homage. Baby Judith (they don't call her Judy) was in the original comics by Robert Kirkman.

I watch TWD and I had absolutely no idea whose baby that was.

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

I like a lot of those crazy ideas, some of which I think were actually borne out of FWWM (the 'planet'/dimension of corn/garmonbozia), but some of them (Earle, Rusty, Audrey pregnant by Wheeler) do not work for me.

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

I somehow doubt Earle (or Rusty!) will be making a triumphant return. I think everyone has probably by now seen the pitfalls of the Earle storyline as executed, and I am still a fan of a fair amount of it. I wouldn't mind seeing Frost deal with some of it in the book, but I have no desire to see Win...

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

I love the idea of Windom Earle, and I think a lot of his speeches are very well-written; I think Kenneth Welsh plays the character to the hilt. I think the onscreen execution of the character is what often faltered, and it wasn't on the actor. He just didn't need a bunch of wacky disguises or to be...

Re: Josie, Laura & Ronette: women in trouble

I don't think Cooper didn't have sympathy for Ronette or Josie. I do think he turned on Josie when he became suspicious of who she was. I talked a lot about how I think Josie fits into Lynch's subset of "women in trouble" over in the Episode 23 thread in the Episodes section - she is a cla...

Re: Fire Walk With Me as a standalone film (&/or seeing it 1

I love the opening, I think it's essential. There's so much mystery, so much of a broader universe in it that slowly narrows itself down to one young girl in trouble.

Re: The Laura Palmer Project

Out of all of the scenes in The Missing Pieces , if I had to pick something to reinstate into Fire Walk With Me , it would be that one scene. I have a feeling that if Lynch could hop into a time machine and go back, he'd likely include it. He was probably on the fence about cutting it. The scene wo...

Re: The Laura Palmer Project

I found the missing pieces scene at the Hayward house very telling of others' awareness of Laura's horror. Dr. Hayward and Eileen share a knowing a look of concern right after Laura is called home by Leland. Maybe I am reading into it, but no one there seems surprised by Laura's emotional state and...

Re: Fire Walk With Me as a standalone film (&/or seeing it 1

I actually first saw FWWM on Bravo at like 3 AM, back in the late '90s. This was back when that network was very, very different. It was actually my first re-exposure to TP as a teenager, after I'd basically been too scared of BOB to watch the show beyond mid-late Season 2 during the original airing...
