Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

A real life Waldo? Thankfully it seems no one tried to murder this witness.

Re: Recut of TPTR

The only kind of fan recut I wouldn't consider a monumental waste of time would be something akin to what Steven Soderbergh did in making a black and white silent version of Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was an experiment done with respect for the visual storytelling elements of the original version.

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Would it have been any less absurd or silly to have Nadine or James do it? Because one of those I questionably support and the other I am/would've been much more on board for. And I would say that statement about convention is painting with far too broad of a brush. I would point to a history of my...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

The whole thing was conjured up to be the most absurd resolution to the BOB problem precisely because the audience would be expecting a resolution that would involve a heroic, satisfying action by one of the leads, probably Cooper. Subverting audiences expectations was part of the text of the whole ...

The Criterion Channel

Recently, Warner Media rather callously pulled the plug on FilmStruck, the best streaming service on the internet, cutting off the service's cinephile base's access to the TCM library and the Criterion library. Either should be of interest to Lynch fans, but especially the Criterion library which ha...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

One of the main reasons I want to see more Twin Peaks, and this was also the reason I wanted to see more before Season 3, is simply because I want to see more cinematic work by Lynch, and Twin Peaks represents his most marketable franchise (his only I should say), and the project most likely to get ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I doubt the actors touring around the world has anything at all to do with a potential season 4. It's not unusual for actors from old shows with devoted fan bases to make appearances at conventions. Especially actors who may not have full schedules and could use a paycheck and an all expense paid tr...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I don't have any clue what stage it's at, but the first negotiation is going to be between Frost and Lynch, and that process will not be hurried. It's entirely possible they could talk for a year about what to do with the 4th season and Lynch could decide they don't have enough to move forward, all ...

Re: Is this board closing?

Sorry to hear about the harrassment. I guess I shouldn't be surprised but it is hard to understand why someone would choose to harass the admin of a message board because they don't like a television show. Unfortunately they would probably take the closure of the board as an achievement. Thanks to d...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I agree with all that. You may or may not have interpreted some condescension on my part when I said "fake it," but that's not at all what I meant. I simply meant that most digital cinematography is nearly indistinguishable from film because it is given a filmlike look. That's all. Whethe...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

As I've said before, I was at first put off by the cinematography as I wasn't quite sure what I was watching and it did look overly digital, but it grew on me over time and I came to think of the show as the most arresting looking thing on TV. Part of this realization had to do with the stills that...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

What do you mean, 'looks too digital'? Is film inherently 'better' than digital, or is it because we grew up on film, our eyes are still more accustomed to film grain? Would someone who grew up on digital, then later in life was introduced to film, also see film as superior to digital? Since I don'...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

It boggles the mind. I fail to see how shooting the original made for television series on film was doable at the time, but not 25 years later when the demand for and potential profitability from more Peaks, arguably the greatest show ever made, is so much more prominent than it was back then. This...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

In a way, I kind of wish Hawk had been given the Truman scenes, and that Candy Clark's character was named "Diane Shapiro, PhD, Brandeis". :D Yes, this is one of a small number of nitpicks I have with Season 3. I like Robert Forester but the character of Frank never seemed like anything o...
