Re: Lost vs. Twin Peaks - A Comparison

to be fair, lindelof and cuse really pushed a lot of the "puzzle-box cult" themselves. the podcast they did at the time as well as contemporaneous interviews really promised that every mystery would have an answer and that there was a plan for the series arc the whole time. obviously ther...

Re: Is this board closing?

There's all kinds of reasons an admin of a message board might choose to shutter a board. It can take time and money to keep a message board online. I've seen other boards saved when the community came together to find solutions, such as finding a way to transition to a new admin. It could be helpfu...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

I'd guess Lynch is no more than a producer on "The Happy Worker". But hey Amy successfully got a bunch of Twin Peaks fans eager to hear her news and now the project is on their radar, so it was a good strategy on her part.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

Okay, DKL just released a statement on Facebook clarifying, and I'm happy he did. It was necessary, and I wish it wasn't, but it is enough.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

Edit: As has been noted by others, Lynch didn't even really express an opinion on whether he liked or disliked Trump, so even if you're the most anti-Trump person in the world, there shouldn't be any issues. I feel like I've expressed this pretty clearly, but here it is again. The issue was in how ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

I would agree, obviously, that violence and riots are not okay responses to a disagreement, but that's not what is happening here, unless I missed breaking news. Criticism gets equated with violence more than there is actual violence. There is no honestly in those takes... it's a way to dismiss crit...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

Nah, the actual problem people want to be able to state their opinions and be protected from how people respond. Extend that "people shouldn't be afraid to express unpopular opinions" logic and is there any line that can be crossed? Is no one allowed to call ignorance ignorance in the name...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

I believe people shouldn't steal. But I'm not going to leave my wallet on a bench, come back in an hour and expect to still find it there. Nor am I going to send all my money to someone I haven't meant who randomly emails me claiming to be a Nigerian prince. It takes about the same amount of naivety...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

Why is David Lynch to blame for people deciding not to actually read the interview and taking a single quote out of context ? Do you, or David Lynch, actually believe we live in a world where people read interviews and take everything in context? Did the world where people don't read interviews, ta...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

Is this the place to discuss this whole bruhaha? The no politics rule is tricky when the President himself tweets something about DKL's comment. I mean I don't know if the world of politics has ever ensnared anything related to the world of Twin Peaks or I suppose more specifically, David Lynch, lik...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

Lynch certainly likes to to give people room to interpret his expression, whatever that may be. That's great for his art, probably not so great for political commentary, especially in the current, reactionary click bait atmosphere of the internet and social media.

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

I don't particularly want another season, but if it happens, I doubt he would have any issue getting what he wants from Showtime in terms of freedom. They know this show is a special case. The only anchor would be budget. The network wouldn't want to fork over too much or any more than they did. Th...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

Yeah, I liked IE and generally defend Lynch's creative choices, but as a fan of his work I am very glad he's moved on from his PD-150 days. I don't even think it would have a retro novelty kind of appeal if he went back.

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

You could also say S3 almost didn't happen because of Lynch's determination to achieve very specific creative conditions, which is surely an approach he would bring to a potential S4. It was Lynch, not Showtime, that was holding the cards in that brief rift. It shows he would not hesitate to pull th...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

Even if Lynch and Frost are working on it (and I tend to agree, they've almost certainly been having talks), it's not a guarantee that it will happen. Season 3 almost didn't happen after it had been announced publicly, and Lynch and Frost had been working on it for years in mostly in secret at that ...
