Re: The "We live inside a dream" theory

Of course, 'we live inside a dream' could be just a general statement of Lynch's philosophy of life- it does not necessarily mean Twin Peaks is a dream (though it suggests that possibility). Certainly there are indications that TP operates on dream logic, but I for one never liked that interpretati...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think that Lynch has held a grudge of sorts against the success of the original TP. Perhaps it had something to do with it not being entirely in line with his vision or perhaps for some other unknown reason. this is total bollocks. I agree with many people in here who have problems with this seri...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think some people think Lynch went off script a lot when filming. Also scripts are always written to be too long for the final cut. Looks like Lynch not only added or changed things while filming but really did not do the normal fat trimming. this should have been a 13 ep run. when we watch peopl...

I think that Lynch has held a grudge of sorts against the success of the original TP. Perhaps it had something to do with it not being entirely in line with his vision or perhaps for some other unknown reason. Regardless, he has done everything since then to obliterate the idea of an idyllic little ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I feel like Diane did travel with Cooper into the alternate timeline, or at least partway into it. They found the spot that was ripe with electricity, drove into it, and suddenly it was night, an indication that they had both gone "elsewhere". Then Diane saw an alternate version of hersel...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As with many others here, the finale has left me disappointed. Not with the open ended cliffhanger itself, which I expected, but with the meandering way we got to that point. I can't help, but to think that Lynch was flying by the seat of his pants, not knowing exactly where the story should go, eve...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

-When Cooper asks, "What year is it?", this could be an indication he's starting to come out of the fog and ask the right questions. I agree with that. It's the first sensible thing he does since the moment he stepped into this reality. His prior actions seemed intuitive, strange or perha...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

-don't get all the consternation about the original story being retconned out of existence... How could that possibly be the case? Everything that happens in Part 18, right up to the last second is fundamentally premised on all the events of the Laura Palmer murder. I mean Coop, even in whatever di...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

1.) The Fireman is not malevolent. He might not be conciously benevolent either, but at least he is battling Judy, who we know to be a force of evil. Just like Bob, Judy seems to be interested in pain and sorrow (= Garmonbozia), which could be a reason, why she/it chose Sarah as a host, after the l...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

After reflecting for a while, I am leaning towards being disappointed with the finale. Laura's story has really gone nowhere after the big setup from part 8. I thought that she would have agency of her own rather than being led around by Cooper. Furthermore, the whole elaborate Vegas plotline wasn't...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I just finished watching the last two episodes and... I am not sure what to think. There was a lot that I liked, but also some stuff that fell completely flat. I liked the first half of part 17, minus the super cheesy Bob orb dispatch by Freddie. A great touch was when Andy asked Mr. C whether he wa...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

Throughout all the lead up to this season, I was expecting this would be the final piece of the Twin Peaks franchise, and I was perfectly content with that. Now on the eve of the finally knowing we may be watching the final two hours not only of the Twin Peaks franchise but possibly of David Lynch'...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

Dale was never trapped inside of Dougie at any point. Any new knowledge he possesses comes from his quasi-prescient existence in the Black Lodge, and from his week spent "coming back to himself," while others mistook his identity. I don't agree. I think he came back fully aware but unable...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

Because she was killed, not repossessed by the Lodge. But Ray was killed and had to have a ring to go into the Lodge? Are there different rules for tulpas and humans? I would imagine so. And remember Ray was supposed to slip the ring onto Doppelcoop - that's why he had it. Sending Ray to the Lodge ...
