Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)
I watched John Carpenter's Starman for the first time in decades. The alien has instances where he just repeats the words of people. Then he goes to Las Vegas and manipulates two slot machines to win a ton of cash. It's probably just a coincidence, but you never know.

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)
I love Knightriders -- nice catch on the fryer/gun thing. But now I'm going to be imagining all of the "Billy" mystery is just Audrey talking about Ed Harris on a motorcycle  I really liked it too. I don't know why it took me so long to watch it considering I'm a Pittsburgher and Rom...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)
I wonder if anybody has mentioned this. S3 has at least one Arthurian reference - Lancelot Court - and I believe another, correct? I was watching "Knightriders" the other day, a movie I'd never viewed despite being a Romero fan. (SPOILER) The movie's characters are inspired by the King Art...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
I wonder why Lynch wasn't at that typically horrendous Oscars ceremony. I was hoping for him to stand up and get applause from those navel gazers. Maybe he realizes the ceremony is no longer about movies; don't know. Disappointing.

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)
I've thought about this since the show aired but haven't read anybody addressing it although I'm sure someone has. Writers choose character names that aren't the same as anybody famous. Why Douglas Jones, then? Doug Jones, while hardly a household name, is well known among fantasy and horror film fa...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?
I agree that it's a problem that S3 has almost no scenes that would be considered creepy. Lynch was faced with the problem that anybody doing any revival, remake, or adaptation faces - how much you try to replicate things so that it doesn't look like you're bringing something in just because. Do you...

Re: Do you honestly believe there will be more Twin Peaks?
I agree with all that, but like I said I don't think it would be the same thing. Would an unlikely return to narrative driven storytelling be so bad? Would an even further venture into the avant-garde be unwelcome? A further exploration of the emotions of the characters, or of American history? I w...

Re: Do you honestly believe there will be more Twin Peaks?
I voted "no" and hope I'm correct. I know you partially stated your reasons in another thread - the ending is perfect and you don't see how they can do much more than they already did in their 18 hours - but are there any other reasons you so strongly feel this way? You don't trust that t...

Re: Wasn't the killer obvious? (SPOILERS)
Yeah, this was all quite shocking for 1990 network TV. The reveal scene itself might still be the most viscerally intense scene that's ever been on television, even today after the era of cable/premium cable peak TV. Sure, then it was probably one of the most brutally violent things on TV, but I'm ...

Re: Would level of involvement from Lynch/Frost would you accept should the show continue?
I don't support any continuation, but if it happened, it must only be Lynch-directed even if an additional writer is involved and even if Frost isn't involved. I can take or leave Frost having anything to do with it, but Lynch being the sole director is non-negotiable. Having anybody else come in is...

Re: Wasn't the killer obvious? (SPOILERS)
I recall back then (being only 13/14) not really forming an opinion on who the killer was because the show purposely cast suspicion on every character. It became less about trying to figure out who the killer was than going along with what you were shown, feeling the sense of mystery rather than fee...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)
Then they included a shot from that scene in a commercial. What commercial was this? Do you mean one of the teasers for the show itself? Yes. It was a shot of Coop from the Palmer doorstep looking decidedly un-Dougie like which, because that scene kept not appearing week to week, made us know that ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
That's because you're not the creator. Would you have come up with S3? Anyway, I don't think things being tied up neatly and questions being answered is something you have to be worried about. Anything new would likely build off S3 unless he's going to have gay cowboys eating pudding and call that ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
Not sure what to add in terms of theories, but top of my wishlist would be a FWWM type film centred around Carrie Page. Something set around the town rather than in it, that fits some of the puzzle pieces together. I'm loving the hype from a distance, but as per usual I'm going to not get invested ...
