Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
This is how I've seen The Return, all of it. I may have already said some of this, but there's too much to talk about. The Return isn’t perfect, it has flaws in my eyes; it can be emotionally distant and stunted at the wrong times. It has a plot that is over-explanatory and superficial, disconnected...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Yes, thanks everyone. Twin Peaks has been such a salve for me, and a mirror. It's strange that this is probably it. I'll talk about it once it's over, but unless there's a season 4, I don't think I'll be posting for a long time. I've seen so much I never would have without being here.

At this point though, is Laura even a surprise? Maybe not her exactly, but something about her? She hasn't at all been what I would describe as 'omnipresent' in The Return. She's been almost entirely on the periphery. How much meaning can we glean from just her picture, that we haven't already proce...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)
It may be tenuous, but I think it's at least interesting that the first thing Cooper says upon awakening is a numerical figure (kind of); "One-hundred percent". Given how this seasons been obsessed with numbers and binary conspiracy.

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)
Opinions; I saw Part 16 when it was released accidentally in the UK. I was, besides Parts 1 & 2, truly involved in this one. There's passively watching, enjoying. But this was involvement. Maybe it was the late night, and the headphones. Cooper was hibernating. Somewhere deep inside his catatoni...

Re: Poll: Lynch's David Bowie/Jeffries Workaround
I'm still hoping that there will be something more conclusive with Jeffries, which is strange because all I want is Cooper now. The steam machine/bell thing was intriguing, and it worked as a mysterious conduit for Jeffries to talk through, but I don't think it's an able replacement for Bowie. The d...

Re: Ranking the episode of The Return
This was a hard list to make. I think the earlier episodes are more cohesive, and involving. Allowing the story to unfold, rather than be explicitly explained like the later Parts works better every time. Less 'plot' driven Each segment is in descending order-the top of each being the most 'loved' o...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)
Opinions; Every time a Part like this comes out, it puts previous ones I felt were as dynamic and moving as the show could get to shame. Despite some misgivings I've been having with The Return as a whole piece, it consistently raises it's own bar. Big Ed and Norma's final reunion was so tonally per...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
If there was one state I could apply to The Return, and how I experience it, is 'depressed'. Not in a sad way, but in that there are large expanses of 'feeling nothing' punctuated by intense highs and lows. The Return thrives on it's small, human moments; Cooper's dinner with the Mitchum brothers, B...

Re: The use of music in TPTR - yay or nay?
I don't know. I feel it's so different sometimes. Some uses have felt beautiful, cinematic and appropriate. But I can't help feeling a lack of cohesion sometimes. The best uses have been the Chromatics in Parts 1 & 2, which was as beautiful as 'The World Spins' or 'Questions in a World of Blue'....
